Job Title: Analyst/Senior Analyst/Associate, Acquisitions & Investments (Title to be commensurate with years of relevant experience)

Work type: Hybrid (min. 3 days / week in-person downtown Toronto) Employment type: Full-time Location: Toronto, Ontario

Description

  • Keystone Farmland Management is seeking an entrepreneurial and collaborative individual to join our dynamic and growing organization. We are an Ontario-based farmland asset management company dedicated to providing investors with exclusive access to the unique asset class of Canadian farmland. Keystone leverages its close ties to the agriculture industry, enabling our team to selectively purchase farm properties that are leased to farm partners (tenants) seeking to expand their operations in a capital-efficient manner. With a commitment to both sustainability and value creation through the optimization of each farm in our portfolio, Keystone enables investors and farmers alike to grow sustainably.

Our Mission

  • Keystone believes farming is evolving on numerous fronts, including accelerated adoption of technology, shifts in farmland ownership models, and increasing scarcity of productive farmland with access to abundant sources of water. At Keystone, we enable farmers to expand their scale and realize improved returns. Our investors have a unique opportunity to participate as owners in highly productive farmland, with low correlation to other asset classes, low volatility and capital appreciation through consistent long-term returns. Our focus today is on Ontario farmland with its inherent advantages related to a favorable growing climate, proximity to major consumption markets, and access to abundant water supply.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the CEO supporting the end-to-end execution of direct investment acquisitions and dispositions, including financial modeling, market research, valuation, the review/monitoring of due diligence materials, and investment memorandums with buy/sell recommendations.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with our legal, tax, lenders, appraisers, consultants, and other external advisors during the transaction process
  • Develop investment committee presentations and reporting materials
  • Work closely with the Director, Corporate Development on preparing marketing materials and investor relations initiatives for the flagship direct investment fund, as well as supporting the analysis and structuring of third-party asset management opportunities
  • Track and analyze fund performance and help prepare investor materials, as required
  • Track and monitor macroeconomic trends, and sector-level and regional data

Capabilities

  • Undergraduate degree with a focus on business, finance, economics, or accounting, with a strong academic track record
  • 1 to 3 years of related work experience; this may include private equity, investment banking, equity research, restructuring, consulting and/or transaction advisory/due diligence
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with high levels of ownership, under tight timelines and on multiple projects
  • Demonstrated financial analysis experience and a passion for real estate investment
  • Excellent communications skills, attention to detail, and an ability to present well-articulated ideas
  • Ability to be versatile and agile in this role, as the organization continues to grow
  • CPA and/or CFA designation, or working towards, would be an asset but is not a requirement
