Your role
Radio-Canada Toronto is looking for an Associate Producer for the morning radio show Y a pas deux matins pareils. You stay on top of current events, have exceptional writing, editing, and research skills, a knack for finding the perfect guest, and are comfortable with digital writing techniques. If this sounds like you, you might be the candidate we’re looking for.
As an Associate Producer, you will contribute to the preparation, production, and/or postproduction of segments for the show. You’ll also be involved in research, gathering, and writing content for our media platforms, including digital and/or video platforms.
Please note that the regular schedule for this full-time permanent position is Monday to Friday, with exceptions possible.
Key responsibilities:
- Actively participate in production meetings and pitch story ideas for the show.
- Contribute to the implementation of the show’s editorial goals.
- Book guests and collaborators, develop context, introductions and interview questions, conduct or delegate any required research, and brief hosts.
- Maintain contact databases.
- Assist in developing show content, including writing, research and editing.
- Prepare interview scripts and ensure they reflect the show’s style and format, while following CBC/Radio-Canada’s journalistic standards and practices.
- Contribute to promotion and visibility efforts for the show’s content.
- Write and upload web content related to the show.
- Participate in evaluating all aspects of production.
- Carry out other related tasks as assigned by the senior producer.
Additional tasks may include:
- Selecting music.
- Producing segments.
- Finding studios, crews, phone lines, and other technical/production resources as needed.
- Assigning, directing and coordinating the work of team members involved in a project.
- Editing and mixing audio and video elements or supervising that process.
- Writing links, revising texts, preparing audio clips for broadcast or publication.
- Logging shows and music in appropriate information systems.
- Providing technical support for morning show production.
- Assisting with studio recordings.
- Providing digital support by supplying visual and audio content.
Your profile:
- University degree in journalism or equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience, with exposure to journalism, IT, broadcasting technologies, and digital platforms
- Experience booking interviews, preparing questions, writing focused intros, and scripting/editing pre-recorded segments
- Originality, curiosity, and creativity in producing stories for radio, television, and online platforms; strong writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a team player
- Comfortable with the fast-paced environment and production needs of radio, television, and online news
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask quickly and efficiently
- Able to problem-solve independently and within a team; open to new ideas and approaches
- Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional overtime
- Proficiency in social media — both as a research tool and for rapid content publication is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Toronto, Southern Ontario, the province, and current affairs in Canada and globally
- Excellent command of written and spoken French
- Strong spoken and written English skills
- Demonstrated writing and editorial abilities
- Proven experience in research and/or journalism
- Solid understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic standards and practices
