The Client

They are seeking a Staff Accountant or experienced Bookkeeper to support their CFO with daily financial operations.
What You Will Achieve In This Role
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and assist with year-end working papers.
- Process payroll and manage all associated filings (CRA, WSIB, EHT, etc.).
- Oversee HST/GST return preparation and ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
- Track and account for a diversified investment portfolio (real estate, equities, private debt, etc.).
- Maintain up-to-date records in accounting software and support internal reporting needs.
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors during financial reviews.
- Provide administrative and financial support to the CFO as needed.
What You Must Bring To This Role
- Must have a degree in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field; a CPA designation or enrollment is considered an asset.
- Must have at least 3 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience in a professional setting.
- Must be proficient in payroll processing and statutory compliance (e.g., GST/HST, WSIB, EHT).
- Must have a strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and tax preparation.
- Must have experience in investment accounting (including real estate and securities).
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (or comparable software) and Excel is required.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently in a small office.
- Must bring a demonstrated high level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial data.
