ONxpress Transportation Partners has been selected by Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx to lead the charge in modernizing rail service across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas with the On-Corridor Works project. What You’ll Do:
- Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data
- Create building information models (BIM), using computer software, to provide digital representations of physical and functional aspects of buildings and other engineering projects
- Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations
- Develop and prepare design sketches
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
- Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data
- Write technical reports
- Prepare contracts and tender documents
- Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates
- Supervise and train other technologists, technicians and drafters.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Minimum of one year of AutoCAD drafting experience.
- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or Architectural program.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD software and experience customizing AutoCAD, scripts, tools and Menu’s.
- Must have experience with AutoDesk Civil 3D.
- Basic understanding of municipality standards is considered an asset.
- Experience with drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to following a prescribed set of global company standards, processes, and best practices
- Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Good understanding of how to read civil engineering drawings and site plans.
- Excellent safety and attendance record and previously demonstrated strong safety awareness.

This position is with ONxpress Civils (“CJV” aka the Design & Construction team); the project segment responsible for the modernization and modification of the key area network, including countless innovations in the way the regional rail infrastructure is built.
