<p><h3>Job Title: Configuration Management Specialist</h3>
<p>As a Configuration Management Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in developing mission-critical communication systems for Canada’s next‑generation fleet of protection vessels. Your expertise will ensure these ships maintain secure and reliable communications under all conditions. You will work within a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary design team, overseeing configuration management processes and maintaining configuration records for systems, hardware, and software configuration items. Your experience will be essential in managing configuration change processes, ensuring engineering changes are effectively identified, assessed, authorized, and implemented across various communication systems projects.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Keep configuration management documentation current and accurate.</li>
<li>Prepare project‑specific configuration management plans.</li>
<li>Recommend and implement process improvements, strategies, and change initiatives to strengthen CM practices.</li>
<li>Assess and propose tools or software solutions that enhance configuration management efficiency across the organization.</li>
<li>Coordinate the development and release of engineering development baselines.</li>
<li>Ensure configuration records are properly maintained, updated, and aligned with relevant standards.</li>
<li>Perform internal reviews to highlight strengths, identify gaps, and suggest corrective actions.</li>
<li>Oversee the evaluation of engineering changes to confirm thoroughness and compliance.</li>
<li>Organize and facilitate change review boards, including agenda preparation and documenting decisions.</li>
<li>Partner with change owners to develop implementation plans for approved modifications.</li>
<li>Work closely with Quality teams to resolve issues found during configuration activities and monitor the status of authorized changes in the system of record.</li>
<li>Provide regular reporting on configuration management metrics to leadership.</li>
<li>Offer training and guidance to engineering and technical staff to ensure adherence to CM procedures.</li>
<li>Coordinate configuration management activities with external stakeholders, including customers and subcontractors.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Required Skills</h3>
<ul>
<li>6+ years’ experience in Configuration Management, including change management, configuration control, and information management.</li>
<li>Demonstrated Configuration Management experience with physical/hardware systems.</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Must be eligible for Canadian Government clearances.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Assets</h3>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of project management and systems engineering processes.</li>
<li>Familiarity with tools used to support effective configuration management.</li>
<li>Strong planning, organizing, and information management skills.</li>
<li>Experience leading diverse teams.</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.</li>
<li>Experience with automating configuration monitoring processes.</li>
<li>Possess a professional certification applicable to configuration management (e.g., INCOSE, ITIL).</li>
</ul>
<h3>Work Environment</h3>
<p>This role requires working on‑site five days a week. You will be part of the Systems Engineering team, contributing to the largest defense program in Canadian history. This is a long‑term project with opportunities to grow your career while contributing to the design and development of a high‑reliability communication device capable of maintaining connectivity under extreme conditions.</p>
