A leading company in the industrial sector is seeking a Controller to lead its finance and accounting operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight, supporting informed business decisions and driving continuous improvement across financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting functions including general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll accounting, and cash management.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings; prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with ASPE.
- Design and implement internal controls to protect company assets and ensure compliance.
- Deliver financial analysis and insights to inform business planning and improve performance.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions during audits and compliance reviews.
- Ensure adherence to federal and provincial tax regulations; support corporate tax filings.
- Drive ERP, automation, and business intelligence initiatives across the finance department.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Regularly review financial processes and recommend operational improvements.
- Oversee all financial reporting, accounting, and analysis for a subsidiary entity.
What You Bring
- CPA designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) – required
- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of Canadian ASPE standards
- Expertise in month-end close and audited financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, Oracle, SAP, Epicor, or NetSuite
- Working knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and compliance
- Demonstrated success in process improvement and financial analysis
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment
- Clear communicator who works effectively with stakeholders across all levels and functions
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial supply is an asset
