What is the opportunity?
As Director, Financial Crimes Risk Assessment you are responsible for the design and execution of the enterprise risk assessment. In this role, you will identify and assess inherent risks and control effectiveness, demonstrate compliance, and identify opportunities to optimize the financial crimes program, by:
- Leading the enterprise-wide assessment of financial crimes risks and controls globally and across RBC Platforms, businesses units, and jurisdictions.
- Leading the development of capabilities to enable the quantitative and qualitative assessment of inherent risks, control effectiveness, and residual risk.
- Performing expert analysis to identify concentrations of risk and adequacy of controls to ultimately inform and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
- Delivering high-quality risk assessment products to support regulatory compliance and inform business decisions.
- Remaining abreast of emerging risks and evolving regulatory environmentto continuously refine RBC’s risk assessment approach.
What will you do?
- Lead the efficient and effective execution of enterprise-wide risk assessment activities, in line with regulatory and business expectations.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Enterprise Risk Assessment Methodology and operating procedures.
- Lead the development of capabilities to perform quantitative and qualitative assessments of inherent risks, controls and residual risk
- Identify gaps and opportunities to enhance risk assessment data integration, tools, and processes to drive efficiency and consistency across assessments.
- Collaborate across financial crimes program to establish risk rating frameworks, validate results, align on mitigation strategies and produce reports.
- Establish roadmaps and provide regular reporting on risk assessment activities including data collection and integration, analysis and report generation.
- Identify and escalate material risk exposures and control gaps
- Support regulatory exams, audits and internal reviews related to risk assessment activities
- Monitor changes in AML/ATF regulations and participate in industry related initiatives to remain abreast of existing and new laws and regulatory expectations
What do you need to succeed?
Must have
- Post-secondary education or equivalent
- Proven experience with executing financial crime risk assessments
- Strong ability to evaluate and design risk assessment capabilities and tools
- Deep understanding of global financial crime regulatory environment
- Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Project management
Nice to have
- Graduate degree (MBA or relevant subject matter area)
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation or other related certifications
