Job Description

This position provides specialized transportation and disposal services to our clients. Responsibilities include manifesting, packaging, spill response, labeling, loading/unloading, coordinating transportation, and sampling/profiling material while adhering to state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Main Responsibilities: 

  1. Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
  2. Manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off loading, and coordinating transportation.
  3. Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing/potential problems.
  4. Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with Veolia policies.
  5. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations and Ontario Regulation 347 requirements to ensure accurate and timely completion of all documentation necessary for hazardous waste disposal processes.
  6. Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline preferred
  • Experience handling hazardous waste materials and demonstrated knowledge of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) regulations
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification considered an asset; training will be provided to successful candidates without this certification
  • Valid Class G Driver's License
  • Strong team player
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to follow through on assignments.

Work Environment: 

Permanent position offered on a full-time basis, with working schedules from Monday to Friday.

Expected to be sitting, standing, walking, bending frequently, work both indoors and outdoors, and lifting charges up to 50 pounds. Required to weat personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, apron, gloves, overalls, respirator and self-containes breathing apparatuses.
