They are seeking a <b>General Accountant</b> to join their growing team and support the company's day‑to‑day financial operations.</p>
<h3>Position Overview:</h3>
<p>The <b>General Accountant</b> will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing full‑cycle accounting activities, and supporting the finance function to ensure smooth operations. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a dynamic construction environment.</p>
<h3>Key Responsibilities:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Manage full‑cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.</li>
<li>Prepare and process monthly bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations.</li>
<li>Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing procedures.</li>
<li>Support job costing, project accounting, and WIP reporting for construction projects.</li>
<li>Maintain and reconcile sub‑ledgers and prepare supporting schedules as required.
</li><li>Prepare and file HST, WSIB, EHT, and other government remittances.</li>
<li>Assist with financial statement preparation and liaise with external accountants during audits.</li>
<li>Support payroll processing and related journal entries as needed.</li>
<li>Identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.</li>
<li>Provide general administrative and accounting support to the finance and project teams.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.</li>
<li>Minimum 3‑5 years of full‑cycle accounting experience, ideally within the construction or related industry.</li>
<li>Experience with job costing and project‑based accounting is an asset.</li>
<li>Proficiency with Sage, Yardi, Jonas, or a similar construction accounting software is preferred.</li>
<li>Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting principles.</li>
<li>Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.</li>
<li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.</li>
