The Role
As the GIS Expert, you will serve as a senior-level subject matter expert responsible for overseeing the strategic development, implementation, and management of our GIS. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong technical background, vision, and leadership skills to mentor a multidisciplinary team. You will collaborate across departments to ensure seamless GIS integration.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the strategic vision for GIS systems aligned with organizational goals.
- Mentor and serve as a key resource for GIS functions, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Oversee training programs to enhance skills within the GIS team and organization.
- Manage GIS projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
- Provide guidance on GIS technologies, tools, and industry trends.
- Collaborate with IT, engineering, and data analytics teams to integrate GIS solutions.
- Engage stakeholders to understand their GIS needs and deliver value-driven solutions.
- Maintain GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
- Champion adoption of new GIS technologies to enhance organizational capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field.
- At least 15 years of extensive GIS experience, including senior leadership roles.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), spatial analysis, and data visualization.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience managing complex projects with excellent organizational skills.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and evolving technologies.
