Our team is fast-paced, collaborative, and driven by a mission to transform how fresh food gets to market.</p><p>About the Role</p><p>The Greenhouse Labourer at Haven Greens is a key member of our Grow team, working directly with hydroponically cultivated baby lettuce to support its efficient, high-quality production in our advanced, fully automated greenhouse facility. Reporting to the Director of Cultivation, this role focuses on hands-on tasks essential to maintaining optimal growth conditions, ensuring crop health, and maximizing productivity. The Greenhouse Labourer will monitor crop health, assist with nutrient management, and contribute to the operation of advanced greenhouse technology. If you are excited about contributing to a sustainable future and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment, this role provides a hands-on opportunity to make a meaningful impact.</p><p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Crop Management: Perform daily cultivation tasks, including supporting sowing, germination, media removal, harvesting, and nutrient mixing processes according to established protocols.</li><li>Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Conduct pest monitoring and control activities, including scouting for pests, checking and maintaining sticky traps, and documenting pest pressure levels. Assist with implementing biological and preventative pest control measures to maintain a healthy growing environment. Ensure the application of biological inoculates into growing gutters as part of regular crop care.</li><li>Monitoring Conditions: Regularly check and maintain growing conditions, ensuring that climate, irrigation, and pest management controls are set for optimal crop health and yield.</li><li>Data Collection and Reporting: Record daily metrics on crop performance, environmental conditions, and system functionality; report any irregularities to the Director of Cultivation.</li><li>System Maintenance: Support routine maintenance and troubleshooting for greenhouse equipment, including irrigation/fertigation, climate control, and automated cultivation systems.</li><li>End-of-Day Cleaning: Perform end-of-day cleaning tasks, including cleaning the sowing line and removing media, to maintain operational cleanliness and readiness for the next production cycle.</li><li>Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Follow established SOPs for cultivation processes and safety protocols, including strict adherence to biosecurity and food safety standards.</li><li>Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Production, Food Safety & Quality Assurance, Logistics, and Maintenance teams teams to ensure smooth operations and coordination across departments.</li><li>Quality Assurance: Participate in daily inspections to assess crop quality, identifying and reporting any issues to ensure all products meet company standards.</li></ul><p>Qualifications</p><p>Must-Have: </p><ul><li>High attention to detail and a commitment to following safety and quality protocols.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing conditions.</li><li>Digital literacy, including familiarity with data recording tools and basic greenhouse software.</li></ul><p>Nice-to-Have: </p><ul><li>Diploma or Bachelor's degree in horticulture, agronomy, plant science, or a related field.</li><li>1–3 years of experience in a hydroponic greenhouse or controlled environment agriculture, ideally with leafy greens.</li><li>Basic understanding of plant physiology, pest management, and nutrient requirements.</li><li>Experience with or a background in microbiology, including the preparation and application of inoculations with beneficial bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms.</li><li>Additional certifications or training in greenhouse technology or controlled environment agriculture.</li><li>Experience working with advanced greenhouse systems and automation technologies.</li><li>Knowledge of food safety regulations and biosecurity protocols.</li></ul><p>Working at Haven Greens</p><p>At Haven Greens, we are committed to creating a workplace where our team feels supported, valued, and inspired to achieve their best.
