The Head of North American Compliance is a highly visible, strategic, and hands-on role. The individual in this role will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and operations of Compliance activities in the US and Canada, as well as developing a Compliance plan for the organization with measurable metrics.

Role & Responsibilities :


  1. Designing, implementing, overseeing, and enforcing business rules to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  2. Leading a team of Compliance professionals to ensure the elements of an effective compliance program are met, including policy implementation, training, auditing, monitoring, and prompt investigation of issues.
  3. Mentoring and developing a high-performing team.
  4. Evaluating the Compliance function to support the organization’s growth.
  5. Collaborating with Global counterparts to ensure alignment between North America and Global Compliance programs.
  6. Participating in the Canadian GDS Committee to ensure process adherence and provide reviews.
  7. Analyzing proposed grants, conducting market research, and engaging with US healthcare professionals.
  8. Overseeing reporting obligations related to aggregate spend and drug price transparency.
  9. Providing proactive Compliance support to business areas as a strategic partner.
  10. Contributing to budget planning for compliance initiatives.
  11. Chairing Canadian Compliance Committee Meetings.
  12. Reviewing materials for Legal/Medical/Regulatory review.
  13. Serving as a privacy subject matter expert and Data Protection Focal Point for Canada.
  14. Managing requests for healthcare professional interactions and conducting risk assessments on marketing strategies.
  15. Escalating potential Compliance issues to senior management.
  16. Leading internal investigations on policy violations.


General :

  1. Ensuring compliance with SOPs, policies, and guidelines.
  2. Completing mandatory training upon hire and as policies are updated.
  3. Participating in personal development activities.
  4. Reporting health and safety concerns.
  5. Upholding LEO Pharma’s core values.
  6. Performing additional duties as assigned.


Requirements :

  1. 8+ years in a senior Compliance role in Canada or the US.
  2. Experience in the life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry.
  3. Extensive knowledge of Canadian and US Food and Drug regulations.
  4. Experience leading high-performing teams.
  5. Ability to influence management and stakeholders.
  6. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  7. Business acumen and confidentiality.
  8. Willingness to assist other departments.
  9. Must be able to perform all essential functions, with or without accommodation.
