The Head of North American Compliance is a highly visible, strategic, and hands-on role. The individual in this role will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and operations of Compliance activities in the US and Canada, as well as developing a Compliance plan for the organization with measurable metrics.
Role & Responsibilities :
- Designing, implementing, overseeing, and enforcing business rules to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Leading a team of Compliance professionals to ensure the elements of an effective compliance program are met, including policy implementation, training, auditing, monitoring, and prompt investigation of issues.
- Mentoring and developing a high-performing team.
- Evaluating the Compliance function to support the organization’s growth.
- Collaborating with Global counterparts to ensure alignment between North America and Global Compliance programs.
- Participating in the Canadian GDS Committee to ensure process adherence and provide reviews.
- Analyzing proposed grants, conducting market research, and engaging with US healthcare professionals.
- Overseeing reporting obligations related to aggregate spend and drug price transparency.
- Providing proactive Compliance support to business areas as a strategic partner.
- Contributing to budget planning for compliance initiatives.
- Chairing Canadian Compliance Committee Meetings.
- Reviewing materials for Legal/Medical/Regulatory review.
- Serving as a privacy subject matter expert and Data Protection Focal Point for Canada.
- Managing requests for healthcare professional interactions and conducting risk assessments on marketing strategies.
- Escalating potential Compliance issues to senior management.
- Leading internal investigations on policy violations.
General :
- Ensuring compliance with SOPs, policies, and guidelines.
- Completing mandatory training upon hire and as policies are updated.
- Participating in personal development activities.
- Reporting health and safety concerns.
- Upholding LEO Pharma’s core values.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Requirements :
- 8+ years in a senior Compliance role in Canada or the US.
- Experience in the life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry.
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian and US Food and Drug regulations.
- Experience leading high-performing teams.
- Ability to influence management and stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Business acumen and confidentiality.
- Willingness to assist other departments.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions, with or without accommodation.
