Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling

Job Description

<p><h3>Duties & Responsibilities</h3>
<h3>Financial Performance:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Work within budgets and approvals provided by the Service Manager.</li>
<li>Maintain a high level of productivity, efficiency, and gross margin.</li>
<li>Maintain a quality of work metric of 98% (% of work completed right the first time).</li>
</ul>
<h3>Work Systems And Procedures</h3>
<ul>
<li>Accurately record all work done for customer and warranty records.</li>
<li>Maintain current product knowledge of equipment specific to industry/branch location.</li>
<li>Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly manner.</li>
<li>Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Must maintain thorough understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) systems and standards, and a commitment to a safe working environment, ensuring all employees and customers are kept safe at all times.</li>
<li>Ensure knowledge and compliance of proper procedure for disposal of hazardous waste material.</li>
<li>Work within the guidelines set by the directors and managers.</li>
<li>Perform all service tasks as assigned by the Material Handling Service Manager or the Material Handling Service Department Foreman.</li>
<li>Participate in Service Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge. This may also include training related industry-specific technologies.</li>
<li>Maintain and care for department tools, equipment, and vehicles.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Diagnostic And Mechanical, Electrical, Or Hydraulic Repair</h3>
<ul>
<li>Perform basic/complex power equipment diagnostics to determine repair needs.</li>
<li>Diagnose and repair all related systems (disassembly, assembly, and repair).</li>
<li>Perform customer, manufacturer, or government inspections on equipment.</li>
<li>Perform preventative maintenance on equipment (such as forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, transporters).</li>
<li>Utilize drill presses, grinders, air compressors, and common hand/ power tools to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on material handling equipment.</li>
<li>Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments (Work Order submitted immediately at completion of job).</li>
