The organization is focused on operational excellence, people-first leadership, and stabilizing newly acquired communities through strong on-site HR partnership.</p><p><br></p><p><b>The Opportunity</b></p><p>We are seeking an experienced <b>Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)</b> to support a portfolio of retirement communities in the <b>Ottawa region</b>. This is a highly hands-on, field-based role suited for an HR professional who thrives in a <b>unionized healthcare environment</b>, enjoys labour relations, and is comfortable navigating complex employee relations matters with confidence.</p><p>The HRBP will act as a trusted advisor to Executive Directors and site leadership, supporting the full employee lifecycle while playing a key role in acquisition integration and operational stabilization.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><p><b>HR Business Partnership</b></p><ul><li>Serve as the primary HR partner for multiple retirement communities</li><li>Coach and advise leaders on employee relations, performance management, attendance, and engagement</li><li>Provide practical, solutions-oriented guidance aligned with organizational goals</li></ul><p><b>Labour Relations</b></p><ul><li>Interpret and apply collective agreements in a unionized environment</li><li>Lead and support grievance processes, investigations, and resolutions</li><li>Participate in bargaining preparation and labour strategy support</li><li>Advise leaders through challenging and high-stakes employee relations matters</li></ul><p><b>Acquisition & Change Support</b></p><ul><li>Conduct HR due diligence for newly acquired communities (contracts, policies, union agreements, practices)</li><li>Support post-acquisition integration, restructuring, and change management initiatives</li><li>Help stabilize new sites through strong on-site HR leadership</li></ul><p><b>Talent & Workforce Management</b></p><ul><li>Support recruitment and onboarding for frontline and leadership roles</li><li>Partner with leaders on workforce planning and staffing strategies</li><li>Ensure consistent onboarding and employee experience across sites</li></ul><p><b>Compliance & Best Practices</b></p><ul><li>Ensure compliance with employment legislation, health & safety, and organizational policies</li><li>Support documentation, reporting, and HR systems usage</li><li>Partner with Joint Health & Safety Committees as required</li></ul><p><b>Travel Expectations</b></p><ul><li>Ottawa-based with <b>regular on-site presence</b> across multiple communities</li><li>Minimum <b>3 days per week on the road, remainder work from home</b></li><li>Occasional travel to other Ontario/Quebec locations</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>5+ years of progressive HR experience in a <b>unionized, multi-site healthcare or senior living environment</b></li><li>Strong labour relations experience (grievances, collective agreements, investigations)</li><li>Experience supporting change, restructuring, or acquisitions is a strong asset</li><li>Solid knowledge of Ontario employment legislation</li><li>CHRP designation preferred (or working toward)</li><li>Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle</li></ul><p><b>Ideal Profile</b></p><ul><li>Confident, resilient, and comfortable being challenged</li><li>Enjoys labour relations and complex problem-solving</li><li>Highly independent, organized, and detail-oriented</li><li>Thrives in a field-based, fast-moving environment</li></ul><p></p>Create Your Resume First
