Salary: FT Support Payband H (Start $36.29 – Max $42.13)

About The Role

Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Teaching Excellence, the Instructional Developer will work closely with Educational Developers, Instructional Design Technologists, Educational Technology Specialists, Professors, Facilitators, Program Planning Development and Renewal (PPDR) Consultants, and Administrative colleagues.


Exceptional understanding of learning pedagogy, learning design techniques, educational technology and authentic assessment are of paramount importance in this role. The instructional designer is expected to provide pedagogical expertise and sound judgment in creating learning opportunities that capitalize on adult-learning theory.

The Instructional Developer is responsible for providing expertise on programmatic instructional design. They assist Associate Deans, Program Coordinators, PPDR consultants, and professors in exploring options and assessing the best fit of program courses to particular delivery methods and instructional designs. The Instructional Developer makes this assessment with Humber’s view of flexibility and access as a priority, with the overarching goal of enhancing course and program integrity and quality.



The Instructional Developer will work with cross-functional teams from Innovative Learning to support development of courses, activities, and assessments. They work independently as well as collaboratively to conduct analyses, identify gaps, and construct storyboards/recommendations documents. They are responsible for creating innovative designs for courses that engage students in courses and modules that support a flexible, customizable, and personalized learning experience for students. They are expected to engage in ongoing discussions with members of the Innovative Learning teams, and academic schools to collaborate on technology-enabled, hybrid, HyFlex, and fully online course design projects.

Education

4 Year degree or equivalent in; Education, Curriculum and/or Instructional Design, Adult Teaching, Educational Technologies, Instructional Design, Assessment techniques, Web/Multimedia development, Higher education or equivalent.

Experience/Skills


  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience and expertise in instructional design, course development, learning management systems, and web-based authoring tools related to education/training.
  • Managing projects across a variety of program areas using a variety of tools and coordinating large-scale project tasks with relevant team members.
  • Experience applying the requirements of Ontario AODA legislation to the creation of educational materials.
