About the Role

DFO is seeking a proactive and solution-oriented IT Infrastructure & Support Specialist to join our team. In this dynamic role, you will oversee the DFO Service Desk, tasked with providing effective triage, assignment, and resolution of everyday desktop and infrastructure support requests for all end-users, and stepping in as needed to handle Level 2/3 requests. Additionally, you will manage mobile device support, participate in Data Centre operations, monitor system performance, and perform regular backups.

In this fast paced position, you will have the rewarding opportunity to support DFO’s operation and dairy farms in Ontario.

Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is required.

To succeed, you will have:

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a desktop support and data center support role
  • Strong technical proficiency with PC laptops, servers, IT operations, mobile devices, and related peripherals
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, and VMware required
  • Solid experience working with ITSM solutions and service desk software
  • Solid understanding of Windows networking, Active Directory, TCP/IP, switches, routers, VOIP, virtualization, and cloud technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, customer service, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Microsoft certification is an asset
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset
  • Knowledge of the dairy and/or agriculture industry is an asset

Overview of job responsibilities:


  1. Provide on-site and remote support to DFO employees, Board Members, and farmers in the use of software, desktop systems, multi-function devices, mobile devices and peripheral equipment. Includes setup, configuration and basic troubleshooting. Goal is to resolve issues on first contact.
  2. Troubleshoot, analyze and document computer system errors, including networking, VPN, and intranet issues, to determine effective resolution. Track issue trends to develop knowledge based resources and support continuous improvement efforts.
  3. Participate in hardware maintenance including installing, configuring, and replacing servers, switches, routers, and other physical components.
  4. Perform data center operations including maintenance of the operations schedule, backups, and disaster recovery testing.
  5. Create, modify, and deploy standard configuration images for computers.
  6. Assess functional needs and provide recommendations on hardware and software technologies, with a focus on how they can support business objectives and drive innovation through proactive adoption of new solutions.
  7. Perform routine hardware diagnostics.
  8. Monitor server performance and uptime.
  9. Respond to alerts related to hardware and software issues.
