POSITION: KITCHEN PREP/SERVER
HOUR OF WORK: ON-CALL, CASUAL (potential for up to 25 hours per week)
REPORTS TO: KITCHEN SERVICES MANAGER
WAGE: $20 per hour
PROGRAM
SȾÁUTW̱ Centralized Food Services Department provides for all internal and external catering services.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Kitchen Prep/Server assists with preparing, serving and cleaning for all catering services through SȾÁUTW̱.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Check daily BEO’s & make sure all areas are set up for events, deliveries and future events
- Go over daily BEO’s with the FOH (servers) on schedule, then brief meeting for the whole week events.
- Make a list of prep the needs to be done by the team on their shift.
- Wash & fold linen. (iron or steam)
- Cutlery polished and rolled
- Collect plateware for every event-plates, coffee cups, cutlery, water glasses, side plates.
- All dishes should be scraped of food & brought to the dish area.
- Help the dishwasher with the dishes when needed.
- Coffee urns & tea should be washed & cleaned for the next event.
- Prep for the next event.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 graduation (Dogwood or BC Adult Graduation Diploma);
- Food Safe Handling Course is required ;
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a kitchen; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Valid BC drivers license, reliable vehicle and clean drivers abstract an asset;
- Clean criminal record check required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands
- Extended periods of standing;
- Lifting (approximately 25 lbs);
- Bending or stooping;
- Potential for conflict from TFN members and training participants;
- Will be required to attend meetings and community events outside of normal office hours.
