Role Title: Legal Assistant, Labour & Employment (L&E)
Our Client: is one of Canada’s top 10 L&E law boutiques.
The successful candidate will support two Partners and an Associate. They will be expected to keep the partner on track on a day to day basis.
Please note this is a 4-day in-office role, downtown Toronto, with one work-from-home (WFH) day scheduled according to individual and team preferences.
Responsibilities:
- Assist lawyers with hearings, trials, and court filings; track court dates and deadlines.
- Draft and prepare legal correspondence, court, and tribunal documents (e.g., OLRB, HRTO).
- Ensure timely service and filings per the Rules of Civil Procedure and tribunal guidelines.
- Enter and finalize daily time entries for billing purposes.
- Proofread and format documents for accuracy and clarity.
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and maintain reminder systems.
- Open, organize, and maintain large or complex paper and electronic files.
- Coordinate client meetings and handle logistics (e.g., room booking, AV setup).
- Perform general administrative support and collaborate with other assistants as needed.
Qualifications:
- Legal administrative assistant certificate/diploma is an asset.
- Strong client service skills and attention to detail.
- Collaborative, communicative, and proactive team player.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and Windows.
- Familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Flexible to work occasional overtime.
- Experience with iManage and Acumin is an asset.
