Overview:
Global X is seeking a talented and energetic lawyer to join the legal team in our Toronto office as Legal Counsel. This is an opportunity to join Canada’s most innovative ETF provider. As a key member of the legal team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support across a broad range of investment and enterprise matters.

Key Responsibilities:
You will deliver expert and experienced legal support to Global X’s business, operations and corporate affairs, with a focus on its investment fund manager and portfolio manager activities, including:
- drafting documents, including prospectuses, material contracts, corporate documents, regulatory applications and filings in support of the creation and continuous distribution of Global X’s ETFs
- drafting and negotiating agreements, including investment management agreements, sub-advisor agreements, dealer agreements, broker documentation, custody agreements and employment agreements
- staying abreast of industry and regulatory developments affecting Global X
- advising internally on a wide array of new and existing securities laws and regulatory developments, including compliance with National Instrument 81-102 Investment Funds and other applicable laws and regulations
- identifying risks and implementing appropriate actions to mitigate them
- building effective relationships and collaborating with internal/external stakeholder
- instructing and managing external legal counsel
- supporting and collaborating with compliance team in relation to a broad range of matters
- generally assisting on other legal matters as they arise
Qualifications:
- Graduated from a nationally recognized law school
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- A minimum of three years of corporate/securities law experience gained from a law firm, major financial institution and/or securities regulatory body, with an emphasis on asset management and investment fund products
- Knowledge of and previous experience relating to financial services, the investment fund industry, mutual funds, exchange traded funds, and/or the Canadian regulatory environment
