Why this role is important?


This position holds the opportunity to play a key role in providing financial and analytical support to the Shoppers Drug Mart Category Management team within Loblaw Companies Limited. This role reports directly into the Senior Director, SDM Finance for Merchandising and Corporate Accounting.

What you’ll do:


* Provide daily financial support, reporting, and analysis to enable strategic decision-making for the Category Management team.
* Prepare annual budgets aligned with business goals, based on historical trends and key drivers.
* Collaborate with business partners to deliver periodic forecasts.
* Analyze weekly and periodic system reports to identify early warning indicators of potential issues and/or opportunities for improvement and inform report stakeholders.
* Conduct period-end reporting and detailed variance analysis against plans, forecasts, and prior year results to provide insights.
* Ensure accurate period-end entries and accruals for complete financial reporting.
* Complete balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations.
* Partner with IT, Finance, Operations, and Merchandising teams to assist with ad-hoc and cross-functional projects and initiatives as required
* Drive continuous improvement and documentation of financial processes to enhance efficiency


What you bring:

* University degree in business, commerce, accounting, or finance and/or working towards a CPA designation
* 5+ years of relevant work experience in retail or corporate accounting
* Advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience, specifically Excel and Power BI (data visualization, pivot tables, lookup functions)
* Strong communication skills, including verbal reasoning and conflict resolution
* Analytical and creative thinker with a proven record of delivering results
* Excellent time management, organizational and multitasking abilities
* Proactive, able to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.
* Skilled collaborator with the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
* Experience with SAP, MicroStrategy, Teradata, SAS, SQL, or Python will be an asset
* Comfortable working independently and in team settings.
