Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

<p><p>We’re hiring a full-time <b>Mechanical Design Engineer</b> to lead the development of custom, high-speed automation systems. This role is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer with a passion for innovation, strong leadership skills, and deep technical expertise in machine design. You’ll be responsible for managing design projects from concept through to production, working alongside a team of engineers, manufacturing and procurement. You will be driving creative solutions for complex automation challenges, taking machine design to the next level.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Lead designs for new equipment development including existing systems evaluation.</li>
<li>Conceptualize, model, and detail components and assemblies using AutoCAD and 3D CAD (SolidWorks).</li>
<li>Perform engineering calculations (speed, force, torque, temperature, etc.).</li>
<li>Evaluate and optimize existing mechanical systems.</li>
<li>Collaborate in design reviews and cross-functional project planning.</li>
<li>Mentor and supervise junior designers and engineers.</li>
<li>Assist with Drawing file system administration and project documentation.</li>
<li>Liaison between engineering procurement and manufacturing departments.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>5+ years of mechanical design experience in automation or machine building.</li>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).</li>
<li>Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D CAD software; SolidWorks is an asset.</li>
<li>Well-versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of pneumatics, servo motors, and machine shop practices.</li>
<li>Experience with PDM document management systems.</li>
<li>Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.</li>
