This is a <strong>hands-on leadership role</strong>, responsible for guiding a team of skilled trades while actively participating in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities.</p><p>The successful candidate will act as the senior decision-maker on shift in the absence of the Maintenance Manager and will play a key role in building and stabilizing the afternoon maintenance team over time.</p><p><strong>Reporting Structure</strong></p><ul><li>Reports to the <strong>Maintenance Manager</strong></li><li>Leads <strong>3–4 skilled technicians</strong> on the afternoon shift</li></ul><p><strong>Work Environment</strong></p><ul><li>Heavy industrial setting involving large-scale mechanical and hydraulic equipment</li><li>Equipment includes balers, shredders, and heavy-duty hydraulic systems</li><li>Pre-planned travel between multiple facilities</li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Lead and support a team of millwrights through hands-on participation and technical guidance</li><li>Make operational and safety-related decisions during the afternoon shift</li><li>Perform troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, and preventive maintenance on plant and yard equipment</li><li>Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems</li><li>Fabricate components and complete welding repairs as required</li><li>Install, commission, and test new equipment and machinery</li><li>Assign and prioritize work orders for internal staff and external contractors</li><li>Coordinate parts, tools, and services to support maintenance activities</li><li>Monitor quality, productivity, and safety compliance of completed work</li><li>Respond to urgent breakdowns and service calls to minimize downtime</li><li>Promote a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment</li></ul><p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Valid 433A Industrial Millwright </strong><strong>Licence</strong> (mandatory)</li><li>Minimum <strong>5 years of supervisory or team leadership experience</strong> in an industrial maintenance environment</li><li>Strong hands-on background in mechanical maintenance and repair</li><li>Experience working with heavy-duty industrial equipment and hydraulic systems</li><li>Ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions during off-shift hours</li><li>Welding and fabrication skills considered a strong asset</li><li>PLC exposure or troubleshooting experience considered an asset</li><li>Valid G Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record</li><li>Ownership of a personal tool set</li><li>Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills</li></ul><p><strong>Ideal Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li>A working leader who leads from the floor, not the office</li><li>Comfortable operating in rugged, heavy-industrial environments</li><li>Calm, decisive, and safety-driven under pressure</li><li>Interested in building and mentoring a maintenance team over time</li><li>Seeking a long-term role with stability and growth</li></ul><p> To apply please email your resume to Syndel Gerlings at <span >sgerlings@fuzehr.com</span></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p></p></p>
