<p>Position Details</p><p>Posting #:<br>33242</p><p>Department:<br>Dialysis Centre (Charlton)</p><p>Employee Type:<br>Regular, Part Time</p><p>If Temporary, Number Of Weeks<br>Union:<br>Non-Union</p><p>Openings Remaining:<br>1</p><p>Reason for Posting:<br>This position is for an existing vacancy.</p><p>Schedule</p><p>Work Days:<br>Monday to Sunday, Holidays</p><p>Time of Day:<br>Days, Afternoons, Evenings, Nights, On-Call, Stand-by</p><p>Shift:<br>Various Rotating</p><p>Shift Start:<br>Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements.</p><p>This position may be scheduled at any of the following sites:<br>Charlton Campus (Hamilton Downtown), King Campus (Stoney Creek East Hamilton), Brantford General Hospital Satellite Hemodialysis Unit (Brantford), Six Nations Satellite Hemodialysis Unit (Ohsweken)</p><p>Application Dates</p><p>Opening Date:<br>13/01/2026</p><p>Closing Date:<br>20/01/2026 Applications must be received online by 12:00 midnight on the Closing Date</p><p>Position Description</p><p>Position Summary<br>The Non-Registered Nephrology Technician prepares dialysis machines for patient treatment, disinfects dialysis machines and collects statistical data at the Charlton Campus.</p><p>Qualifications</p><ul><li>Secondary School diploma</li><li>2 Year Community College diploma in Technical Engineering, Health Sciences</li><li>Completion of the Dialysis Technical Assistant course, preferred</li><li>1 year practical and related experience and/or 3 to 6 months on the job training required</li><li>Knowledge of dialysis equipment and dialysis therapy</li><li>Demonstrate a technical/mechanical aptitude and be extremely reliable, punctual and energetic.</li><li>Operation of dialysis equipment.</li><li>Ability to work effectively with patients, technical, nursing and medical staff in a pleasant and courteous manner.</li><li>Willingness to work in a chronic care patient-orientated unit</li></ul><p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Assembles and prepares the dialysis extracorporeal circuit according to aseptic technique, protocol and the dialysis prescription, and verifies the absence of residual sterilants.</li><li>Prepares dialysate according to established procedures and the dialysis prescription and collects samples.</li><li>Tests and monitors machine functions including alarms, conductivity and temperature; also sets monitors and alarms according to unit and manufacturer protocols.</li><li>Prepares patient lists and distributes supplies for subsequent patient shifts.</li><li>Collects and organizes patient statistics and schedules to ensure ORN reporting compliance.</li><li>Reviews, and commits to adhere to, all applicable hospital policies and procedures.</li><li>Maintains confidentiality at all times and ensures the release of information is in accordance with hospital policy.</li><li>Sets up dialysis equipment in other areas of the hospital and other hospitals</li><li>Disinfects portable RO machines at various hospitals in the city.</li><li>Disinfects dialysis machines.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by the Technical Manager.</li></ul><p>Hours Of Work<br>Rotating shifts and extended hours</p><p>Note: The successful applicant may be required to work at both Charlton and King Campus<br><em>.</em><br>St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) is an equal opportunity employer and strives for equity, inclusiveness, and diversity in all our programs, practices, facilities, and people.
