<p><h3>Overview</h3><p><b>Position Title:</b> Property Underwriter</p><p><b>Location:</b> Vancouver, BC or Toronto / Ottawa, ON with flexible work from home options</p><p><b>Summary of Position:</b></p><p>Lions Gate Underwriting (LGU) is a global MGA with teams throughout Canada, Australia and Latin America. LGU in Canada is continuing to grow and is looking for a driven Underwriter who will be responsible for underwriting, evaluating and negotiating new and renewal property and casualty business. You will work in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment and be part of an energetic group of professionals.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Underwriter for product lines including but not limited to: Commercial Property, Residential Property (including short term rental), Vacant Commercial / Residential Property, Vacant Property with renovations to be completed, Vacant Land and more.</li><li>Underwrite and service a growing book of business, including risk selection, coverage negotiation and pricing adequacy on new & renew(al) business, all in accordance with designated underwriting authorities and company guidelines</li><li>Identify, analyze and develop sources of new business</li><li>Establish and maintain strong relationships with brokers</li><li>Maintain market intelligence, trends and industry knowledge</li><li>Adhere to company and regulatory policies, procedures together with mandatory training requirements</li></ul><h3>Qualifications, Experience & Additional Capabilities</h3><ul><li>2 years+ Commercial underwriting experience</li><li>Requirement: Insurance Agency Level 1 license mandatory and Level 2 license preferred</li><li>Strong attention to detail, organization and time management</li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow-up on uncompleted tasks</li><li>In-depth understanding of policy wordings, forms and applicable coverages</li><li>Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, working independently and collaboratively within a team</li><li>Strong phone skills including listening and documenting information</li><li>Experience with EPIC and Policy Works Insurance Systems is an asset</li></ul><h3>You will personally demonstrate the organization's values</h3><ul><li>Accountable</li><li>Entrepreneurial</li><li>Collaborative</li><li>Empowering</li><li>Disciplined</li></ul><h3>Employer Information</h3><p>Lions Gate Underwriting is a division of BMS Group Ltd., a specialist Lloyd's Insurance Brokerage with more than 600 staff across 25 global offices throughout Canada, USA, Australia, Europe and Asia, and is headquartered in London, UK.
