Were dedicated to not only improving mental health solutions but making mental health care accessible for all.</p><p>Our team is growing and we are looking for highly motivated individuals who are ready to gain hands-on experience working with children on the spectrum. Onehealth is currently recruiting talented individuals to join our expanding team as a Weekday, <strong>Weekend, Weeknight </strong>and <strong>Casual </strong>Respite Worker for our Autism program located in Ottawa area. </p><p><br /></p><p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p><p></p><ul><li>Assessing the physical and emotional condition of clients</li><li>Engaging clients in suitable activities such as socializing, playing games, and reading out loud</li><li>Relief and support, emotional regulation</li><li>Learning and maintaining ethical standards of practice</li><li>Flexible schedule with opportunity for more hours as business grows<br /></li></ul><ul><li>Basic hygiene care (changing clothes, diapers, bathroom breaks)<br /></li><li>Excellent communications skills to effectively and accurately interact with patients</li><li>Must possess an active-listening skill</li><li>Have and showcase very strong interpersonal skills</li><li>Must have the ability to work independently once assigned a case</li><li>Must have the ability to work with families, healthcare professionals, counselors, and others</li><li>Ability to practice skills; from listening to interpretative skills</li><li>Ensures a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for children and youth providing age appropriate activities with adaptations as needed. </li><li>Promotes behavioural change and personal growth of children and youth who are having difficulties coping as a result of social, emotional, physical, or cognitive delays. </li><li>Provides life skills training as per goals set out by the youth and other stakeholders.</li><li>Supports youth to achieve their established goals using a strengths-based approach.</li><li>Works within the youths community to utilize local resources and programs. </li><li>Initiates activity groups, related to the specific needs and goals of the youth.</li></ul><p></p><p><strong>Qualifications and Skills:</strong></p><p></p><ul><li><br />Behavioural Science Technology Diploma, Autism Behavioural Science Certificate, Registered Behavioural Technician certificate, or related<strong>(preferred)</strong></li><li><br />Degree/Diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioural Science, Education, Child and Youth Worker, or related field<strong>(required)</strong></li><li><br />Must possess CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, Crisis Intervention, or TCI and a degree or diploma relevant to the field <strong>(required)</strong></li><li><br />6 months - 1 year experience working in a position with exposure to ABA techniques and strategies<strong>(preferred)</strong></li><li>Ability to work weekends</li><li><br />Previous experience with working with children and youth, highly energetic, enthusiastic, positive, creative, and have great play skills</li><li> Good understanding of and experience working with, children and youth with physical or mental developmental disabilities.<br /></li><li> Experience and solid understanding of the harm reduction model.</li><li> Demonstrated ability to communicate with youth effectively and adapt to accommodate developmental needs. </li><li> Culturally competent practices and understanding of the impacts of colonization for Indigenous communities, families and individuals. <br /></li><li> Successful result of Criminal Record check.</li><li> Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle is required in order to potentially transport clients</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><strong>Physical Requirements </strong></p><p><br /></p><ul><li> Activities such as, but not limited to, swimming and hiking</li><li> Significant lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling</li><li><br />Must be able to lift at least 30 Lbs, must be able to sit on the floor with children, be engaging, be able to run, walk at a fast pace and be energetic.</li><li><br />Valid vulnerable sector check and CPR training is a requirement</li></ul></p></p>Create Your Resume First
