Are you a hands-on data engineer with a strong Java development background and experience in Azure Databricks and Big Data technologies? We’re looking for a technical leader to help architect, build and optimize the future of enterprise-scale data systems in the cloud (Azure) for a leading Canadian Bank.
As part of the Liquidity Risk Management team, you will play a key role in tackling complex high-volume data challenges – from real-time streaming to cloud-native transformation, and play a key role in designing scalable data platforms that drive critical business decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale data pipelines using Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and Azure Databricks
- Develop performant, production-grade data processing code in Java (8+ years of experience preferred)
- Lead performance tuning, query optimization, and job orchestration in Databricks
- Architect scalable cloud-based data solutions with a focus on distributed systems, partitioning, and cost efficiency
- Implement strategies for schema evolution, data versioning, and flexible access patterns
What You Bring:
- 8+ years of hands-on Java programming experience, ideally in a data-intensive environment
- Strong expertise in Azure Databricks, Spark, and data pipeline orchestration
- Deep understanding of data modeling (OLTP/OLAP) and performance optimization
- Experience working in cloud-first architectures, preferably on Azure
- Familiarity with data governance, security models, and lineage tracking in enterprise platforms
- Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD best practices
- Any prior experience working in the Capital Markets, Banking, or financial services sector would be a major asset, but not required.
Any relevant certifications would be a major plus!
- Databricks Certified: Data Engineer Associate or Professional,
- or Oracle Certified: Java SE Programmer
