<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Salary: <br /><p>Senior Electrical & Mechanical Project Manager</p><p><br><br></p><p>Role Overview</p><p>The Senior Electrical & Mechanical Project Manager provides senior technical and project leadership across Urbacons construction within the ICI and mission-critical construction portfolio including hyperscale data centres, institutional facilities, and complex infrastructure projects.</p><p>This role demands an experienced professional with 15+ years of progressive experience in mechanical and electrical systems delivery within a construction management, design-bid-build (stipulated sum) or design-build environment, holding a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation or Master Electrician (ME) designation.</p><p><br><br></p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><p>Technical </p><ul><li>Act as Urbacons senior technical authority for all mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems, guiding design development, constructability, and execution strategy.</li><li>Review and validate consultant drawings, specifications, and performance criteria to ensure compliance with code and client requirements.</li><li>Lead value-engineering initiatives and system optimization efforts to improve efficiency, resilience, and life-cycle performance.</li><li>Oversee integration of electrical, mechanical, and automation systems with architectural, structural, and civil components.</li><li>Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, energy-efficiency strategies, and mission-critical innovations.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>Project Execution & Management</p><ul><li>Manage the full lifecycle of M&E scopes on large-scale ICI and data-centre projects from preconstruction through turnover.</li><li>Provide design-assistance for M&E equipment. Assist in developing scopes of work, tender packages, bid analyses, and contract recommendations for all M&E trades.</li><li>Oversee project schedules and long-lead equipment tracking, ensuring timely procurement, delivery, and commissioning.</li></ul><ul><li>Provide technical oversight during installation, testing, and commissioning plan development.</li></ul><ul><li>Lead or participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), to support commissioning planning.</li></ul><ul><li>Lead and/or work with the project commissioning agent to complete project commissioning by ensuring project specific commissioning requirements (Level 1-5) are met and follow with complete integrated systems commissioning (IST).</li></ul><ul><li>Conduct design and field reviews, ensuring compliance with Urbacons QA/QC procedures and safety standards.</li></ul><ul><li>Support MOP (Method of Procedure) documentation for live environments.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>Risk, Quality & Compliance</p><ul><li>Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, and coordination risks throughout design and construction.</li><li>Conduct gap analyses on consultant and trade designs; issue RFIs where required.</li><li>Liaise with authorities having jurisdiction (ESA, TSSA, municipal utilities) for permitting, inspections, and approvals.</li><li>Prepare and review commissioning reports, as-built documentation, and system manuals.</li><li>Manage all applications for energy rebates, sustainability incentives, and public-funded efficiency programs.</li></ul><ul><li>Serve as Urbacons technical representative to clients, consultants, and trade partners.</li><li>Communicate design intent, system functionality, and progress clearly across all project stakeholders.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>Health, Safety & Quality</p><ul><li>Help enforce Urbacons health and safety standards with a Mechanical and Electrical focus on all job sites, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.</li><li>Ensure construction quality aligns with design intent, specifications, and industry best practices.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>Candidate Qualifications</p><ul><li>Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (or Mechanical), or equivalent technical diploma.</li><li>Professional designation: P.Eng. (Professional Engineers Ontario), Certified Engineering Technician (C.E.T.) or Master Electrician (ME) designation (ESA).</li><li>Experience working within Electrical or Mechanical Subcontractors is highly valued and welcome.</li></ul><ul><li>Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in M&E project delivery within the ICI or mission-critical construction sector.</li><li>Proven success managing large, complex, fast-track or retrofit projects in occupied or sensitive environments.</li></ul><ul><li>Maintaining a valid Ontario class G drivers license and having access to a vehicle for the purpose of performing duties.</li><li>Excellent computer skills and experience with software programs for project management, planning, time management and contracts.</li></ul><ul><li>Good grasp of code compliance (CSA, ASHRAE, NFPA, ESA)</li></ul><p></p><p>Core Competencies & Skills</p><ul><li>Leadership and mentorship of multidisciplinary teams.</li><li>Exceptional communication, analytical, and decision-making skills creative problem-solving.</li><li>High degree of technical accuracy, foresight, and accountability.</li><li>Detail-oriented, organized, and able to see both the operational and big picture perspectives.</li><li>Proficiency in MS Office suite, project management and construction software is preferred (e.g., Procore, MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, Bluebeam, etc.).</li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>Location & Commitments</p><ul><li>Head Office: Urbacon, 750 Lake Shore Blvd East, Toronto 5 days a week</li><li>Frequent travel to active project sites and client facilities across Ontario and Canada.</li><li>Site-based deployment may be required for major data centre or ICI builds.</li><li>Regular business hours with extended hours flexibility required to meet project-specific scheduling needs for fast-track projects.</li></ul></p></p>Create Your Resume First
