<p>Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking a motivated individual to work with our Survey Services Branch. Survey Services is a branch of the Engineering and Technical Services division that conducts the Legal Land Surveys which support the Province of Manitoba's acquisition, disposition and designation of lands for purposes such as roads, drains and other infrastructure.</p>
<p><b>Duties:</b> The Senior Geomatics Technologist reports to and receives day-to-day direction from the Manager of Survey Services. This senior-level Geomatics Technologist position is responsible for providing and applying advanced technical survey knowledge toward the implementation of field operations in the specialized area of land surveying in Manitoba. The incumbent is responsible for the planning, development, schedule, delivery of the field activities and post-survey communications related to the Survey Services program. The Senior Geomatics Technologist position requires extensive interaction and co-operation with Computer Aid Design & Drafting (CADD) staff and the Manager of Survey Services/Manitoba Land Surveyor positions to ensure the department’s overall objectives are met.</p>
<p><b>Qualifications:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Diploma in geomatics technology. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.</li>
<li>Experience in legal land surveying computations including the ability to seek, collect, and analyze land boundary evidence.</li>
<li>Experience working in the role of Crew Chief under the supervision of a Manitoba Land Surveyor (M.L.S.).</li>
<li>Strong attention to detail, including a high level of accuracy.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team environment and with diverse groups.</li>
<li>Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information.</li>
<li>Strong written communication skills.</li>
<li>Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.</li>
<li>Experience supervising staff.</li>
<li>Experience using Microsoft Office Programs and AutoCAD or similar software applications.</li>
<li>Experience operating chainsaws, rockdrills, snowmobiles, quad bikes and small boats.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Conditions of Employment:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.</li>
<li>Must possess and maintain valid Class 5F Driver’s Licence.</li>
<li>Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, traverse rough terrain, and work within job site environments that may be exposed to the following notable hazards: working alone, excessive noise, dusty air, extended travel, etc.</li>
<li>Must be able to frequently travel to work sites around Manitoba by ground (ATV), water (small boats) and air (small planes and helicopters), including extended periods of up to 3 weeks at a time.</li>
<li>Must be able to work overtime, sometimes on short notice.</li>
<li>Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 45 kilograms.</li>
