<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>The Water Resources Group has an opportunity for a Senior Hydrologist or Water Resources Engineer in British Columbia to join our growing team of water resources specialists, engineers, and scientists with a strong focus on mining water management. The position will ideally be located in either Burnaby, Victoria, or Sidney, British Columbia but there is flexibility for other offices in British Columbia.</p><p>Stantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting. We are committed to fostering an inclusive community and delivering work that supports clients and communities.</p><h3>Your Opportunity</h3><p>Grounded in safety, quality, and ethics, our experts lead their fields and guide our work with rigor, a creative spirit, and a vision for growth.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Leading hydrology and water resources components of projects from baseline assessments through permitting, operations, and closure.</li><li>Developing mine water management plans, water balances, and water management infrastructure designs.</li><li>Hydrological modelling (e.g., HEC-HMS, Raven) and assessment (e.g., flood frequency analysis and regional analysis), including incorporation of climate change into predictive models.</li><li>Assisting in environmental flow needs (EFN) assessments, fish habitat loss assessments, habitat offsetting studies, and designs related to habitat compensation plans.</li><li>Managing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work, delivering quality reports on schedule and within budget.</li><li>Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior and intermediate staff.</li><li>Interacting with clients, environmental regulators, and community stakeholders.</li><li>Contributing to proposal development, client presentations, and business growth initiatives.</li><li>Consistent demonstration and promotion of HSSE policies and procedures, including client-specific training where applicable.</li></ul><h3>Capabilities and Credentials</h3><ul><li>Registration as a professional geoscientist or engineer (P.Geo. or P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, or qualifications to obtain this registration at the start of employment.</li><li>Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, including technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government agencies, and the public.</li><li>Disciplined approach to project execution and a desire to grow in a challenging environment that fosters leadership, mentoring, and diverse experience.</li><li>Leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performance.</li></ul><h3>Education and Experience</h3><ul><li>Master’s or Doctorate degree in Geoscience, or Engineering, or related field.</li><li>Minimum 10 years related experience.</li><li>Experience with GoldSim, R, and hydrological datasets (e.g., ERA5) would be an asset.</li><li>Mining experience and experience with incorporating climate change effects into hydrologic assessments.</li></ul><p>Typical office environment with computer work; field work may involve exposure to the elements.
