The Senior Mechanical Project Manager position is located in Vancouver, BC and reports directly to the Operations Manager.</p><p>We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced <b>Senior Mechanical Project Manager</b> to lead complex mechanical projects within the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) construction sector. From HVAC and plumbing systems to process piping and mechanical retrofits, you’ll oversee projects from planning through to commissioning—ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This role will manage all aspects of project performance, including cost control, scheduling, quality assurance, and subcontractor coordination, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and trades. The incumbent will be oversee progress tracking, resource planning, and adapting to evolving project requirements in a fast-paced environment.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Collaborate with the Operations and Division Managers to plan and execute mechanical projects ensuring compliance with Corporate policies</li><li>Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates to JDE</li><li>Oversee cost, schedule, quality, safety and contract performance on mechanical projects</li><li>Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules</li><li>Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors</li><li>Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships</li><li>Represent company on matters such as business services and union matters</li><li>Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients</li><li>Hire and supervise the activities of union labour, subcontractors and subordinate staff</li><li>Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk, update WIP report and correct deficiencies</li><li>Manage the implementation of Company and legislated Health and Safety Programs, including Tool Box meetings, safety procedures, and compliance to PPE</li><li>Solicit and submit shop drawings between vendors and owners for approval</li><li>Prepare operation maintenance manuals</li><li>Maintain document control as per Division standard using Procore</li><li>Material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs</li><li>Co-ordinate and manage various small & large projects</li><li>Travel to various sites or clients to undertake the above</li></ul><h3>Competency Requirements</h3><ul><li>Communicates Effectively</li><li>Customer Focus</li><li>Holds Self and Others Accountable</li><li>Problem Solving and Innovation</li><li>Teamwork and Collaboration</li><li>Values and Respects Others</li><li>Coaches and Develops</li><li>Maximizes Business Performance and Team Effectiveness</li><li>Strategic Perspective</li></ul><h3>Education Requirements</h3><ul><li>A university<strong> degree in mechanical engineering</strong> or a college <strong>diploma/program in construction technology</strong></li><li>Extensive field experience as tradesperson may substitute for post-secondary education requirements</li></ul><h3>Work Experience Requirements</h3><ul><li>5-7 years of experience in the construction industry (preferably experience with <strong>commercial/institutiona</strong> <strong>l </strong>projects), including experience as a supervisor or field superintendent <strong>would be an asset</strong></li><li>3-5 years of experience as a Construction Project Manager <strong>is required</strong></li></ul><h3>Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements</h3><ul><li>Intermediate knowledge and understanding of:<ul><li>Construction scheduling, planning, and execution</li><li>Project structural design interpretation</li><li>Business operations processes</li><li>Organization and time management</li></ul></li><li>Intermediate user of:<ul><li>MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)</li><li>JD Edwards or an Oracle-based ERP system <strong>is an asset</strong></li></ul></li><li>Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills</li><li>Proficient knowledge and understanding of:<ul><li>Construction scheduling, planning, and execution.</li><li>Business operations processes.</li></ul></li><li>Excellent <strong>organization and time management skills</strong></li><li>Available to travel</li></ul><p>The expected salary range for this role is between $105,000 and $120,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package.
