<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>As a wholly owned subsidiary of the Cooperators General Insurance company, Sovereign Insurance is seeking a professional and ambitious Senior Risk Consultant specializing in Property / Casualty operations with emphasis on Farm loss prevention to join our Risk Engineering team. The successful candidate will conduct risk assessments on commercial and farm properties, identify risks / exposures, and share this expertise with underwriting partners. You will meet with advisors, clients and underwriting to conduct physical surveys of insured operations, using your expertise and relationship-building skills. Commercial risk assessment experience is required.</p><p>Take your career to the next level by developing your ability to see the big picture, think creatively, and challenge the status quo while working with some of the industry’s leading professionals.</p><h3>How you will create impact</h3><ul><li>Conduct risk evaluation services (property and liability) through site surveys to identify and evaluate loss exposure, hazards, and controls for risks.</li><li>Provide meaningful recommendations for loss prevention improvements through analysis of construction, occupancy, protection, exposures, hazards, fire protection systems, etc.</li><li>Provide consultative risk improvement services and training to advisors and underwriters.</li><li>Ensure assessments are completed in a cost-effective, timely and productive manner in accordance with specified service standards.</li><li>Establish positive relationships with clients and maintain strong relationships with internal staff and external service providers.</li><li>Provide regular coaching sessions to manage performance and support each member of the team to progress.</li></ul><h3>How you will succeed</h3><ul><li>You thrive on delivering exceptional client experience through positive and engaging relationships, embracing accountability to achieve effective results.</li><li>You ensure your day-to-day actions align with the company’s purpose, vision, and values even when challenged.</li><li>You are open and adaptable to changing conditions with a natural curiosity to explore and try new approaches.</li><li>You value cooperative and collaborative dialogue because diverse perspectives offer more creative and productive solutions.</li></ul><h3>To join our team</h3><ul><li>A degree or diploma in Engineering, Agriculture or related field of equivalent experience.</li><li>Knowledge of NFPA standards and relevant fire and building codes is required.</li><li>A minimum of 7 years’ experience in loss control / risk engineering focusing on commercial and farm risk.</li><li>In progress or completed insurance-related loss prevention courses (Building Construction, Basic Hazards, special hazards and processes, liability loss prevention).</li><li>Specialized skills in trades or fire protection and prevention fields are considered assets.</li><li>CIP and / or CRM designation is an asset.</li><li>Infrared Thermography Level 1 and Level 2 is an asset.</li></ul><h3>What you need to know</h3><ul><li>Extensive travel may be required with emphasis on driving. Current valid driver’s license is required.</li><li>A company vehicle will be provided for this role.</li><li>Extended work hours may be required.</li><li>Potential exposure to conditions that require health and safety protection, such as chemicals, noise, dust and debris.</li><li>This role involves direct contact with clients and / or service providers in their environment.</li><li>You will work on a virtual team or remotely a significant amount of time.
