Senior Technical Designer, Public Buildings

Join NORR as a Senior Technical Designer, Public Buildings and contribute to a wide range of public sector projects, including government campuses, embassies, cultural buildings, and museums.

In this role, you will apply technical detailing and material technologies to develop design solutions into comprehensive construction documents. You will analyze design intent, produce technical design solutions, and collaborate with the team to ensure projects meet quality, budget, and aesthetic requirements. Your knowledge of detailing, building materials, codes, and construction technologies will be vital throughout all project phases.



Responsibilities

  • Develop and edit architectural drawings to deliver high-quality solutions within project timelines and budgets.
  • Conduct programming, code research, material and system research, and layout planning.
  • Evaluate site conditions and perform site surveys.
  • Review project products, services, and shop drawings.
  • Process permit response letters and coordinate revisions with engineers and consultants.
  • Coordinate with contractors, sub-consultants, and authorities to address constructability and owner concerns.

Required Skills

  • Experience across all project phases.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other architectural software.
  • Familiarity with MEP, structural systems, and building codes.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Registration with a professional architectural body is an asset.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of project experience.
  • Experience with public buildings is an asset.
