Primary Responsibilities


  • Demonstrate integrity and provide a 5-Star culinary experience to guests and colleagues, embodying Shangri-La hospitality.
  • Interact with colleagues as internal customers and strategic partners to deliver excellent service.
  • Maintain positive relationships and a professional attitude towards guests and colleagues.
  • Ensure food quality and standards are upheld during preparation for restaurant and banquet functions.
  • Act as a service ambassador, meeting service expectations proactively and professionally.
  • Prepare culinary items according to recipes, demonstrating thorough knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and service techniques.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen and prep areas, adhering to Food Safe, HACCP, and hygiene standards.
  • Practice sustainable practices, controlling food portions and wastage.
  • Participate in training initiatives and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies and standards.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, safety, communication, respect, and professionalism.
  • Undertake other related responsibilities as required.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Passion for food and culinary excellence.
  • Technical competency in cooking techniques, ingredients, and presentation.
  • Customer service orientation with a focus on guest needs.
  • Excellent communication skills; fluency in English.
  • Commitment to safety and safe work practices.
  • Ability to prioritize, make decisions, and solve problems effectively.
  • Respectful interaction with others, demonstrating sincerity and humility.
  • High integrity and professionalism.
  • Physical ability to perform lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, and reaching.
  • Proficiency with departmental equipment.

Other Requirements


  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a luxury hotel.
  • Experience with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is an asset.
  • Red Seal certification or equivalent.
  • Flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
