Position: Shoring & Structural Design Specialist
Reporting to: Shoring Division Manager
Job Summary:
We are a fast-growing construction company based in Toronto, Ontario, specializing in civil, commercial and residential projects. We are looking for a motivated engineering professional with a solid background in shoring and foundations to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of technical knowledge, practical experience, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
In this role, you will be involved in performing shoring and deep foundation calculations, as well as drafting and contributing to the design of sound and wind barriers. You will also assist in the structural design of low-rise residential buildings. Daily tasks will include drafting design-build solutions and supporting the estimating department with technical input and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proven experience in shoring and foundation engineering, with a solid understanding of structural behavior and construction practices.
- Structural engineering background is preferred.
- Interpret architectural and structural plans to generate shop drawings and layout plans.
- Modify drawings based on calculations, standards, and site conditions.
- Ensure drawings meet building codes and client specifications.
- Maintain drawing records and support project submittals.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Architectural/Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technician, or equivalent.
- 3-5 years experience in drafting, ideally in structural or civil works (shoring experience is a strong asset).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam (Revit and Civil 3D are pluses).
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong understanding of structural drawings, building codes, and detailing.
- Familiarity with Ontario-specific standards and practices, including those of MTO (Ministry of Transportation of Ontario) and Metrolinx, is a strong asset.
- Comfortable working remotely and managing tasks independently while collaborating with a distributed team.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- Location: minimum 2 days in office or site depending on meetings and task priorities.
- Work Hours: Full-time (typically 40-44 hours per week).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary ranges from CAD $75,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience
