<p><p><b>Work Arrangement: </b>This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three days per week, at minimum.</p><h3><b>The Role</b></h3><p>The Data Engineering organization at General Motors is at the forefront of innovation, leveraging data to drive the future of mobility. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Software Quality Lead to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for defining and executing a comprehensive software test strategy that validates the functionality of our end-to-end data pipelines across many different vehicle controllers. This role requires a strong understanding of embedded software, software development principles, vehicle architectures, communication protocols, testing principles, and test automation, along with excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse engineering teams.</p><h3><b>What You'll Do (Responsibilities)</b></h3><ul><li>Test Planning & Strategy: Design, develop, and own a comprehensive test strategy for data and control plane software, systems, and related features. Lead the development and execution of test plans ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.</li><li><b>Mentorship:</b> Provide guidance, training and mentorship to team members, identify skills gaps, foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the testing team, and introduce advanced testing methodologies and tools.</li><li><b>Enhance Capability:</b> Utilize automated testing tools and frameworks to implement strategies and enhance testing efficiency and coverage.</li><li><b>Vehicle Testing:</b> Conduct and coordinate comprehensive functional, performance, and exposure testing on vehicles to validate system performance, build documentation of results to verify compliance with given requirements.</li><li><b>Data Analysis & Reporting:</b> Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to define metrics, interpret test results, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to engineering teams and stakeholders.</li><li><b>Documentation:</b> Prepare detailed test reports and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.</li><li><b>Compliance & Safety:</b> Ensure all testing activities adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining a focus on quality and risk management.</li><li><b>Cross-Functional Collaboration:</b> Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and product management, to understand requirements and deliver high-quality vehicle systems.</li></ul><h3><b>Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)</b></h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.</li><li>10+ years of experience in vehicle and embedded software testing, including hands-on experience with automotive systems.</li><li>Demonstrated experience developing and executing test strategies leveraging contemporary testing methodologies/tools.</li><li>Proven experience in testing embedded systems and deploying comprehensive large-scale test automation solutions.</li><li>Expert in programming/scripting languages such as C/C++, Java, Python for test automation.</li><li>Proficiency using test automation tools (e.g., Robot Framework) and continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps)</li><li>Experience in automotive HIL and SIL testing tools such as dSPACE/ControlDesk and ETAS/INCA.</li><li>Strong understanding of vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, ODB-II, LIN, Ethernet).</li><li>Understanding/experience with version control systems such as Git.</li><li>Knowledge of performance analysis tools such as Flamegraphs.</li><li>Experience with API testing using tools such as Insomnia.</li></ul><h3><b>Soft Skills</b></h3><ul><li>Strong leadership and project management skills.</li><li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.</li><li>Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.</li></ul><h3><b>What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)</b></h3><ul><li>Familiarity with automotive standards (e.g., ISO 26262).</li><li>Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.</li><li>Experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).</li></ul><p>GM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION-RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.
