<h3>Job Description</h3>
<p>The role supports customers, sorts incoming products, and assists the ongoing retail operations of a Salvation Army Thrift Store. The position starts at provincial minimum wage, with opportunities for annual increases, and is a permanent full‑time role.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Greet and interact with customers and donors positively and courteously.</li>
<li>Assist with sales, ensuring accurate cash and debit transactions and minimal voids or shortages.</li>
<li>Process donations: load, unload, sort, pack, hang, price, and store items while protecting inventory integrity.</li>
<li>Maintain store opening and closing procedures, including security, cleanliness, and merchandising displays.</li>
<li>Contribute to meeting store sales targets and inventory control.</li>
<li>Adhere to store policy on cheques, credit cards, refunds, voids, and holds.</li>
<li>Follow health and safety guidelines, including lifting 30 lbs and wearing gloves when needed.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Critical Relationship Management</h3>
<p>Internal: Store Manager, Corps Officer(s), volunteers, staff.</p>
<p>External: Guests, vendors.</p>
<h3>Managerial/Technical Responsibilities</h3>
<p>Reports directly to the Store Manager. No direct reports.</p>
<h3>Working Conditions</h3>
<ul>
<li>Permanent full-time position with a variable schedule (weekdays, evenings, weekends).</li>
<li>Requires frequent standing, bending, twisting, crouching, and lifting up to 30 lbs.</li>
<li>Safety shoes are required at all times in all store locations.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Education & Experience</h3>
<ul>
<li>Completion of some high‑school coursework.</li>
<li>Experience in processing or distribution of goods, or customer service.</li>
<li>Knowledge of lifting guidelines; ability to use a computerized environment.</li>
<li>Willingness to develop an understanding of The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Skills & Capabilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Attention to detail; self‑motivated and disciplined.</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently and as part of a cooperative team.</li>
<li>Physically capable of lifting up to 30 lbs on a frequent basis.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Compensation</h3>
<p>The target hiring range is $16.50 to $16.90 per hour, with a maximum of $20.28. Placement considers market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications.</p>
