Strategic Business Analyst

Equation Staffing Solutions is proud to be the partner of choice for the City of Calgary's temporary staffing needs. We are currently seeking a Strategic Business Analyst to support Calgary Housing for a 3+ month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful policy and governance work that will directly impact board-level operations. Responsibilities:<ul><li>Conduct strategic reviews and policy analysis for Calgary Housing's Board Expense Policy and Board Code of Conduct Policy.</li><li>Collaborate with leadership to assess feedback from board members and Executive Leadership Team on policy effectiveness and clarity.</li><li>Analyze relevant policies from Calgary Housing, the City of Calgary, and the Government of Alberta to ensure legal alignment and best practice adoption.</li><li>Coordinate with internal teams to align policy updates with related changes, such as those in the Accounts Payable Policy.</li><li>Draft and revise policy documents to reflect recommended updates and best practices.</li><li>Prepare formal board reports (in the style of City Council reports) summarizing key changes, rationale, and alignment to governance standards.</li></ul>
 
Qualifications:<ul><li>Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, or Public Administration (or related field).</li><li>Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic analysis, governance, policy development, or a related role.</li><li>Strong understanding of municipal or government operations and policy development frameworks.</li><li>Proven ability to conduct thorough policy reviews and write professional, board-level reports.</li><li>Demonstrated skills in problem solving, decision making, and the ability to multitask under tight timelines.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders effectively.</li><li>High attention to detail and a strategic mindset with a focus on practical outcomes.</li></ul>
