Job summary
The Warehouse Attendant is responsible for a range of tasks in the warehouse using a variety of instruments and rolling stock while ensuring compliance with established standards and health and safety norms.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect incoming products, according to established procedures.
- Store products in appropriate locations, according to established procedures.
- Receive returns, confirm quantities, verify product condition and complete required documentation.
- Receive orders, prioritize if necessary and select merchandise for shipment.
- Verify accuracy of processed orders and report concerns to manager as appropriate.
- Safely pack products according to established procedures.
- Enclose appropriate documentation with each order and ensure that all shipments are properly identified (labels, etc.).
- Load pallets, wrap and load into trucks.
- Create shipping labels and other documentation for shipments, as well as shipping notices and declarations; maintain up-to-date information in the warehouse management system.
- Organize and coordinate shipment of merchandise.
- Participate in cyclical and annual inventories.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
Skills & Abilities required
- Basic knowledge of computer software; experience with a warehouse management system (“WMS”) is an asset.
- Can lift/carry a 50 lb load on occasion.
- Must be available to work overtime when required.
- Forklift license is considered an asset.
- No fear of heights when using the “VNA”.
- Experience operating a VNA forklift is a major asset.
- Qualified to handle and prepare hazardous material shipments is considered an asset.
- Customer service oriented.
- Energetic, reliable, punctual, diligent, team player, self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
- Good work organization, time management and prioritization.
- Good work ethic and positive attitude.
Experience and education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a shipping/receiving clerk in a warehouse environment. Good communication skills; must speak, read and write in English and French. English skills are required due to interactions with internal & external customer
