Our commitment to sustainability, cutting-edge technology, and excellence in execution has positioned us as a rising leader in the construction industry.</p><p>Role Overview</p><p>We are seeking a motivated<br>Accountant<br>to support our finance operations with full-cycle accounting, construction cost tracking, financial reporting, and compliance. You'll help ensure financial accuracy across projects and corporate operations while working closely with project managers, operations, and leadership.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><p>Core Accounting</p><ul><li>Perform full-cycle accounting tasks including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger maintenance.</li><li>Prepare and record journal entries, reconcile accounts, and support month-end close processes.</li><li>Maintain accurate financial records and documentation to support internal reporting and external audits.</li></ul><p>Project & Cost Accounting</p><ul><li>Track and allocate costs to individual construction projects.</li><li>Generate project-specific financial reports and assist with project budgeting and variance analysis.</li><li>Monitor labour, materials, subcontractor costs, and overhead to ensure projects remain on budget.</li></ul><p>Financial Reporting & Compliance</p><ul><li>Prepare timely financial reports for senior leadership and support audit processes.</li><li>Assist with tax filings (HST, payroll, etc.) and ensure compliance with accounting standards/regulations.</li><li>Support cash flow forecasting and help identify financial risks or opportunities.</li></ul><p>Collaboration & Process Improvement</p><ul><li>Work with project managers and operations to clarify financial assumptions, cost allocations, and budget revisions.</li><li>Contribute to improvements in financial processes, reporting accuracy, and accounting controls.</li></ul><p>What We're Looking For</p><p>Education & Credentials</p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.</li><li>CPA designation (or working toward CPA) is an asset.</li></ul><p>Experience</p><ul><li>2–5 years of accounting experience, ideally in construction or project-based industries.</li></ul><p>Skills & Tools</p><ul><li>Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.</li><li>Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, etc.).</li><li>Excellent Excel skills (analysis, pivot tables, reporting).</li><li>Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.</li></ul><p>Why Verdicon Builders</p><ul><li>Be part of a dynamic construction team shaping the future of projects across Southern Ontario.</li><li>Work in a collaborative, growth-minded environment.</li><li>Competitive compensation and professional development opportunities.</li></ul><p>Verdicon Builders is a progressive, equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
