<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><strong>Summary<br /></strong><br /> The Assistant Site <span >Superintendent/Site</span> Superintendent plays a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of paving, road and highway construction projects valued between $5M and $15M, including MTO work. This position oversees day-to-day site operations, ensuring all activities align with project design, budgets, timelines, and safety standards.<br><br> Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, directing, and coordinating resources to achieve efficient, safe, and high-quality project execution. The superintendent also acts as a liaison between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve issues, manage workflows, and keep projects on track.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><br /><ul><li>Plan workforce, equipment, and material needs to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.</li><li>Provide direction to subcontractors, coordinators, engineers, foremen, and junior site staff assigned to the project.</li><li>Monitor site safety practices, promoting a zero-incident culture.</li><li>Act as the point of contact for addressing performance issues, subcontractor disputes, and client concerns</li><li>Work with project managers to prepare estimates, budgets, and schedules, including bi-weekly updates.</li><li>Review project profitability, cash flow, and critical path schedules; implement adjustments as needed.</li><li>Participate in project closeout reviews, offering insights and recommendations for improvement.</li><li>Track, review, and approve worker timesheets for payroll and cost management.</li></ul><strong>Operations</strong><br /><ul><li>Oversee and approve work performed on-site by crews and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.</li><li>Conduct and sign off on health, safety, and environmental inspections.</li><li>Coordinate with project managers to issue progress certificates, process billings, and maintain accurate records.</li><li>Lead weekly site meetings and prepare two-week look-ahead schedules for contractors and subcontractors.</li></ul><strong>Qualifications</strong><br /><ul><li>College diploma in Civil Construction or equivalent industry experience eg. foreman, labourer etc</li><li>Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in the civil construction industry, including working on MTO projects across Ontario</li><li>Proven skills in planning, scheduling, and coordinating civil construction work.</li><li>Familiarity with government contracts is an asset.</li><li>Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental responsibilities.</li></ul><strong>Core Skills</strong><br /><ul><li>Strong leadership and team management abilities.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.</li><li>Effective communication with sound judgment and professional assertiveness.</li><li>Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and competing demands under pressure.</li></ul><strong>Software</strong><br /><ul><li>Proficiency with scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project) and contract management.</li><li>Trained in safety programs, project management, and ethical business practices.</li></ul><strong>Salary - $75,000 - $130,000</strong><br><br>All applications will be reviewed by the consultant posting the job and NOT an ATS tracker.
