<p><h3>About us</h3><p>The Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law is one of the oldest professional faculties at the University of Toronto. Today, it is one of the world’s great law schools. Jackman Law’s rich academic programs are complemented by its many legal clinics and public interest programs.</p><p>Jackman Law is housed in the elegant, state‑of‑the‑art Jackman Law Building, alongside two historic buildings, Flavelle House and Falconer Hall, on the St. George Campus in downtown Toronto.</p><h3>Your opportunity</h3><p>Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) is a national organization which is hosted by and has its head office at the Jackman Faculty of Law, with Chapters at 22 Canadian law schools. PBSC’s mission includes providing free legal support to people and communities facing barriers to justice and providing law students with an opportunity to develop their legal skills.</p><p>Under the supervision of the National Director, the Program Officer will be fluent in English and French and will provide guidance to PBSC’s chapter student leaders in addition to supporting the development and operation of access to justice‑oriented projects. The Program Officer will ensure that the student leaders understand and implement PBSC’s established policies, procedures, and timelines, and guide in problem‑solving issues as they arise to maintain effective chapter operations. The incumbent will regularly communicate in French and English with chapter stakeholders school staff/faculty, non‑profit organizations, lawyers, and student staff and volunteers to effectively oversee and support the chapters. Beyond their one‑on‑one work with the student leaders, the incumbent will assist with running PBSC’s annual National Training Conference and other events, as well as supporting the diverse initiatives of the National Office.</p><h3>Your responsibilities will include</h3><ul><li>Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate.</li><li>Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required.</li><li>Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders.</li><li>Exchanging information at formal department and/or program committee meetings.</li><li>Identifying and introducing variations to established administration processes.</li><li>Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow‑up items.</li><li>Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming.</li><li>Providing orientation to others on work procedures and practices.</li></ul><h3>Essential Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.</li><li>Minimum five (5) years’ related experience in program coordination.</li><li>Understanding of access to justice programs designed to provide legal assistance to low‑income individuals.</li><li>Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, preferably volunteer programs in an educational setting.</li><li>Demonstrated fluency in French and English and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, in both languages.</li><li>Ability to work with and motivate law students, faculty and community partners, including members of the legal and educational communities and other social/business contacts.</li><li>Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.</li><li>Exceptional organizational and time management skills, ability to manage and prioritize competing deadlines.</li><li>Excellent analytical ability.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all levels of stakeholders.</li></ul><h3>Assets (Nonessential)</h3><ul><li>Understanding of law schools and the legal profession would be considered a desirable asset.</li></ul><h3>To be successful in this role you will be</h3><ul><li>Diplomatic</li><li>Procedural</li><li>Self‑directed</li><li>Tactful</li></ul><h3>Closing Date</h3><p>02/13/2026, 11:59PM ET</p><h3>Note</h3><p>This posting is for a 6‑month term opportunity.</p><h3>Living Experience Statement</h3><p>Candidates who are members of Indigenous, Black, racialized and 2SLGBTQ+ communities, persons with disabilities, and other equity‑deserving groups are encouraged to apply, and their lived experience shall be taken into consideration as applicable to the posted position.</p><h3>Diversity Statement</h3><p>The University of Toronto embraces Diversity and is building a culture of belonging that increases our capacity address and serve the interests of our global community.
