Description<br><p><b>SUMMARY</b></p><p>The <b>Building Condition Assessor I</b> is an entry level position to the BGIS Professional Services team. The Professional Services team is a multi-disciplinary group of engineers and technical staff that provide service across BGIS Accounts. These services include Asset Management, Building Science, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Energy Efficiency and Sustainability. The Building Condition Assessor role provides valuable site evaluation and engineering judgement experience, working independently while being supported by a best in industry team of engineering professional. </p><p>The Building Condition Assessor I applies building condition assessment processes and technical standards in conducting asset assessments for the purpose of identifying asset condition and deficiencies. </p><p>The output of this process is recommendations for Capital Project work leading to Project Management, Engineering Design and Construction Management roles.</p><p><b>KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><ul><li>Completes site visits at client real estate locations and performs building component identification and condition evaluation.</li><li>Completes reporting using BGIS software for use in RealAsset – our BGIS developed Asset Management software.</li><li>Provides recommendations and cost estimates for building envelopes, components and systems repair or replacement for inclusion in the capital budget plan.  </li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><b>KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS</b></p><ul><li>University or college diploma in relevant technical field such as architectural, civil, mechanical electrical engineering, building science or building engineering.</li><li>Entry level position but 1-3 Years of relevant work experience would be an asset. </li><li>General knowledge of technical standards and process in completing building condition assessments, in particular American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Practice E "Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments: Baseline Property Condition Assessment Process" would be an asset.</li><li>General knowledge of the process of cost estimating for replacement and repair of building components and systems.</li><li>General knowledge of building science including base knowledge of all areas of study - architectural building envelope, mechanical and electrical building systems or site components.</li><li>General knowledge of general building design, construction and facility operation of commercial buildings.</li><li>Ability to work independently and learn quickly.</li><li>Strong written communication skills.</li><li>Proficient with MS Excel and ability to learn other applications quickly.</li><li>Strong computer skills. </li><li>Detailed-oriented.</li><li>Valid drivers' license with ability to travel 50-70%.</li></ul><p><b>Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation</b></p><ul><li>Enrolled as EIT,P. Eng, C.Tech or RET an asset.</li></ul><p>This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $52,864 - $66,080 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role. </p>Create Your Resume First
