<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><br><br><p><strong>Controls Design Engineer – Power Transformers</strong></p><p></p><p>Northern Transformer is a Canadian-owned, fast growing manufacturer of power transformers. Our team delivers transformers of the highest quality through superior design, quality workmanship and attention to our clients’ individual needs.</p><p></p><p>Due to the growth of our business, we have an opening for a Controls Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a university degree or college diploma in Electrical Engineering and relevant experience.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities of the Controls Designer</strong></p><ul><li>Be familiar with industry standards applicable to the design and manufacturing of power transformers and mobile substations.</li><li>Understand electrical power protection and control equipment.</li><li>Understand customer specifications and select proper instruments<em>/devices</em> based on customer needs.</li><li>Create <em>transformer </em>nameplates, schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts.</li><li>Provide technical support to manufacturing team, <em>testing team</em> and client.</li><li>Attend <em>internal design reviews and as well as customer design review.</em></li><li>Prepare information for manufacturing according to design standards and standard operating procedures.</li><li>Preparation of Bills of Material (BOM) <em>to upload to ERP,</em></li><li>Completion of task and design activities on time.</li><li>Communicate and help others in the engineering team.</li></ul><ul><li>Anticipate and assist with production processes and procedures to ensure high quality and smooth production. </li><li>Assist with trouble shooting and root cause analysis <em>(Engineering, Production & Quality).</em></li><li>Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the company’s values of Quality, Safety and Service and company Environment, Health & Safety procedures and quality management program.</li></ul><p></p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><ul><li>B.S. in Electrical Engineering equivalent degree or technical experience.</li><li>Excellent computer skills.</li><li><em>Knowledge in Autocad 2D, </em></li><li><em>Knowledge in Zuken E3 software and or EPLAN Electric P8/ProPanel is a plus.</em></li><li>Familiarity with industry standards applicable to design and manufacturing of power transformers.</li><li>Understanding of transformer relays such as SEL, GE, Beckwith, etc.</li><li>Understanding of transformer <em>controls & protections</em>.</li><li><em>Knowledge and ability to read and understand electric schematic diagrams, multiline & single.</em></li></ul><ul><li>Excellent organization, high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills</li><li>5+ years of controls design work experience in a power transformer design & manufacturing environment.</li></ul><br><br></p></p>Create Your Resume First
