<p><p><b>Director, Group Disability</b> – Sun Life</p><p>Join a visionary leader role focused on improving disability performance, enhancing client satisfaction, and building a high-performing, future-ready team at our Edmonton office.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Take ownership of operational performance, ensuring quality, compliance, and timeliness across all disability operations (STD, LTD, ECI).</li><li>Make strategic decisions to optimize team capacity while maintaining even workload distribution.</li><li>Optimize return-to-work outcomes in safe, sustainable, and timely ways.</li><li>Spearhead the modernization of operations through digital tools, automation, and data-driven insights.</li><li>Align the Edmonton office with Sun Life’s national disability strategy and innovate claims management, client engagement, and plan member support processes.</li><li>Represent Sun Life at external events, showcasing leadership and industry expertise.</li><li>Lead a high-performing, engaged team through clear expectations, accountability, and empowerment.</li><li>Reduce employee attrition and deliver talent development to nurture future leaders.</li><li>Foster a culture of trust, accountability, and inclusion through personal example.</li><li>Leverage leadership skills to influence national processes and collaborate with BD, IT, HR, Risk, and Legal.</li><li>Take proactive ownership of client relationships, work closely with Business Development to resolve issues, and drive satisfaction.</li><li>Make data-driven decisions to improve client satisfaction scores and support sales efforts.</li><li>Demonstrate strong decision-making skills in implementing change initiatives.</li><li>Influence cross-functional partnerships to achieve business goals.</li></ul><h3>Success Metrics</h3><ul><li>Significant improvements in claim durations and financial results.</li><li>Measurable increase in client and advisor satisfaction scores.</li><li>Substantial decrease in employee turnover and improved engagement metrics.</li><li>Successful implementation of technology and process innovations.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>10+ years of leadership experience in complex, client-facing operations.</li><li>Strong track record of leading through change and delivering measurable business outcomes.</li><li>Deep knowledge of disability claims management and rehabilitation practices.</li><li>Experience building and developing high-performing teams.</li><li>Strategic mindset with strong execution skills and operational discipline.</li><li>Exceptional communication, influencing, and problem-solving abilities.</li><li>Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree (equivalent experience acceptable; advanced credentials are an asset).</li></ul><h3>Benefits & Perks</h3><ul><li>Hybrid work model with flexibility to work from home or office based on business and client needs.</li><li>Inclusive and respectful environment fostering employee well-being and career growth.</li><li>Recognition by Excellence Canada for Mental Health at Work®.</li><li>Participation in incentive plans and various compensation incentives.</li></ul><h3>Compensation</h3><p>Base Pay range: $110,000 – $180,000 (depending on location and factors).
