<p><b>Job Purpose</b> The Junior Network Engineer serves as a key operational resource within the OnX Canada infrastructure team. This role focuses on maintaining network stability, executing standard changes, and providing rapid resolution to technical incidents. The Network Engineer I works collaboratively with senior architecture staff to deploy solutions and ensures that documentation and monitoring systems are accurate and up to date.</p><p><b>Essential Functions</b></p><ul><li>Perform day-to-day network operations, including monitoring, incident response, and ticket resolution.</li><li>Assist in the configuration and deployment of network hardware (switches, routers, access points, and firewalls).</li><li>Troubleshoot connectivity issues using standard diagnostic tools and methodologies.</li><li>Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and asset inventories.</li><li>Execute standard change requests and software upgrades on network infrastructure.</li><li>Collaborate with senior engineers on complex projects and deployments.</li><li>Participate in on-call support rotations to ensure system availability.</li><li>Perform onsite datacenter or client site tasks, including racking, stacking, and cabling equipment.</li><li><b>This role requires participation in a shift rotation schedule</b></li></ul><p><b>Education & Certifications</b></p><ul><li>Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related technical field.</li><li>Foundational network knowledge (comparable to Cisco CCNA) is expected; active certification is an asset.</li><li>Familiarity with general IT infrastructure concepts (comparable to Network+).</li></ul><p><b>Experience/Background</b></p><ul><li>1–3 years of IT infrastructure networking or relevant technical support experience.</li><li>Hands-on experience with fundamental troubleshooting tools (ping, traceroute, putty/SSH).</li><li>Solid understanding of the OSI model, IP addressing, and subnetting.</li><li>Working knowledge of switching concepts (VLANs, Trunking, Spanning Tree) and basic routing protocols.</li><li>Familiarity with wireless networking fundamentals and access point deployment.</li><li>Exposure to firewall concepts and basic VPN client configuration.</li><li>Experience working within a ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, ConnectWise) is preferred.</li><li>Eagerness to learn advanced technologies such as Cisco ACI, SD-WAN, and Cloud Networking.</li></ul><p><b>Special Knowledge/Skills</b></p><ul><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.</li><li>Effective written and verbal communication skills for client and internal interactions.</li><li>Ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.</li><li>Self-motivated with a strong desire for continuous technical learning and professional growth.</li></ul><p>#LI-Onsite #LI-Hybrid #LI-PK1</p><p>Due to U.S. Government requirements applicable to foreign-owned telecommunications providers, non-US citizens may be required to submit to an extensive government agency background check which will necessitate disclosure of sensitive Personally Identifiable Information.</p>Create Your Resume First
