Accommodations are available during the hiring process, upon request.</p><p>As an Outdoor Custodial Worker, you are an ambassador for The City of Calgary. You will have a high level of contact with the public and must demonstrate an exemplary degree of courtesy and responsibility. Primary duties include:</p><ul><li>Maintain the general cleanliness of the downtown core.</li><li>Sweep and collect refuse from the streets, lanes and sidewalks.</li><li>Sidewalk snow removal and hand sanding in the winter months to ensure pedestrian safety.</li><li>Litter cleanup in public areas.</li><li>Cleanup of encampments on Roads "right of way" throughout the city.</li><li>Other roads maintenance duties as assigned.</li></ul><p>Qualifications</p><ul><li>A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending is required.</li><li>Previous work experience in a custodian/crew work setting will be considered an asset.</li><li>High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) will also be considered an asset.</li><li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.</li></ul><p>Working Conditions: This position requires work that is physically demanding in all weather conditions. You will be required to wear personal protective safety equipment (PPE) and will be exposed to dusty conditions, bodily fluids and needles. Work will include working in difficult terrain and in close proximity to Calgary's vulnerable population.</p><p>Pre-employment Requirements</p><ul><li>Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.</li><li>Completion of an Emergency First Aid Course (organized and funded by The City of Calgary).</li><li>Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.</li></ul><p>Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.</p><p>Union: CUPE Local 37</p><p>Business Unit: Mobility</p><p>Position Type: 5 Permanent and 2 Temporary</p><p>Location: Various</p><p>Compensation: $ per hour</p><p>Days of Work: Shifts vary to provide coverage<br><br>for 7 day operations.
