The Cardiac Ambulatory Clinic, as administrated by the Cardiac & Vascular Program, is comprised of multiple clinics including Comprehensive Cardiology Service, Heart Function Clinic, Arrhythmia Services, Device Clinic, Structural Valve and Cardiac Surgery. The RPN works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health care team to provide support for patients with cardiology specific issues. The interdisciplinary team is comprised of physicians, nurses, technologists and allied health. Assessment, treatment and counselling are offered as part of patient care.</p><p>As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Practical Nurse assesses, coordinates, provides and evaluates patient care in collaboration with the health care team in the clinic. The RPN will participate in continued education and completion and maintenance of certifications associated with the identified nursing skills and completed learning plans to achieve these goals.</p><p>1. Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical NurseĀ <br>2. Current certificates or current community college studies in asepsis, wound care, airway management, complex wound care, physical assessment, , medication administration (including Intravenous), and transcribing physician ordersĀ <br>3. Minimum 2 years nursing experience (within the last 2 years) in acute care ā cardiac and vascular area of practice preferredĀ <br>4. Demonstrated skills in IV starts, ECG and pacemaker rhythm interpretation/treatmentĀ <br>5. Completion of a Critical Practice Orientation (ABG interpretation, adult code blue management, shock)Ā <br>6. Documented completion of a recognized IV administration and IV Management, Venipuncture and Blood and Blood Products Administration courseĀ <br>7. Current BCLS CertificateĀ <br>8. Demonstrated ability to function within an interdisciplinary team including nursing collaboration with RN, Allied Health, Physicians and other members of the health care teamĀ <br>9. Demonstrated ability to function in environments that are fast-paced and that have moderately complex care requirementsĀ <br>10. Demonstrated ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with patients, families, and other members of the health care teamĀ <br>11.
