<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p>Jean Tweed is a leading, community-based organization that provides a supportive environment for women with substance use, mental health, and gambling concerns. Recognizing the diversity of women’s experience in today’s society, our programs seek to address a range of issues in a woman’s life that may contribute to substance use and gambling concerns.</p><p><em><strong>The Jean Tweed Centre is building capacity to transform the level of support for women with substance use, mental health, and gambling concerns.</strong></em></p><p><strong>Position Purpose</strong></p><p>The Residential Counsellor is responsible for the overall safety of the residence and for creating and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for clients during their stay. This position includes supportive counselling, facilitation of evening activities, crisis intervention, conflict mediation, and facilitation of community meetings.</p><p><strong>Rate of Pay: $21.82 - $25.53</strong></p><p><strong>*2 Part-time A positions available* (10-hour shift)</strong></p><p><strong>Location: 3111 Lakeshore Blvd West, Toronto, ON, M8V 4B6</strong></p><ul><ul><li>Schedule: Friday and Saturday, 3:00 pm-1:00 am; Sunday, 11:30 pm - 9:30 am</li><li>Schedule: Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am-7:00 pm; Monday 11:30 pm-9:30 am</li></ul></ul><p><strong>How will you help to get us there?</strong></p><p>As a Residential Counsellor, you will:</p><ul><li>Conduct intake and assessment where designated.</li><li>Collaborate and follow up with clients with meeting requirements of residence.</li><li>Support clients/residents at the residence in carrying out their treatment plan, and assist with daily routines.</li><li>Monitor client relations/issues, ensuring that any crisis identified is addressed and assistance with conflict resolution is offered.</li><li>Manage the documentation and recording of information, including the record of case notes in the daily log if necessary.</li><li>Supervise and assist residents with any required medication where applicable.</li><li>Carry out medication protocols and administration where applicable.</li><li>Follow security protocols and address safety concerns as they arise.</li><li>Identify and follow up on maintenance issues when they arise.</li><li>Collaborate with supervisor to discuss job performance and establish professional goals.</li><li>Engage in ongoing staff development and personal learning as agreed to in performance reviews.</li></ul><p><strong>Administration</strong></p><ul><li>Maintain documentation of relevant client interactions and interventions, and contacts with collateral supports.</li><li>Monitor the progress of clients, prepare reports and letters as necessary.</li><li>Participate in staff meetings, team development and supervision meetings.</li><li>Collaborate with supervisor to discuss job performance and establish professional goals.</li><li>Engage in ongoing staff development and personal learning as agreed to in performance reviews.</li></ul><p><strong>Organizational</strong></p><ul><li>Conduct job responsibilities with a commitment to harm reduction, trauma- informed, women-centred and anti-oppressive practices.</li><li>Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor.</li><li>Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Jean Tweed Treatment Centre.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of The Jean Tweed Treatment Centre.</li><li>Maintain a client service orientation including learning about and addressing client needs and concerns.</li><li>Work collaboratively including respect others, sharing information, consulting and celebrating shared successes.</li><li>Demonstrate accountability by holding self-responsible and following through on commitments.</li><li>Support inclusion and equity by respecting others, embracing diversity and addressing oppression.</li><li>Commit to continuous learning through professional development, giving and receiving constructive feedback and applying new skills.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>College Diploma in Addictions and Mental Health or equivalent qualification.</li><li>A combination of 3 years of work experience in the field of Mental Health, Substance Use, and/or Supportive Housing.</li><li>Expertise in providing supportive counselling and case management to individuals who are experiencing or have experienced a complex history of mental health concerns, and substance use.</li><li>Working knowledge of best practices in mental health, substance use, harm reduction, trauma and the therapeutic relationship.</li><li>Working knowledge of psycho-social rehabilitation and recovery principles.</li><li>Working knowledge of trauma-informed practice, women-centred principles and best practices for women and substance use.</li><li>Working knowledge of community resources such as health care.</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in complex community settings.</li><li>Ability to use a range of technological tools, e.g. online reporting systems, videoconferencing etc.</li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.</li><li>Crisis intervention skills, with well-developed problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Excellent oral and writing skills.</li><li>First Aid/CPR certification.</li></ul><p><strong>Ready to apply?</strong></p><p><em>We thank all applicants, however, only those being considered for an interview will be contacted.
