Due to continued business needs, our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of the full accounting function and act as a trusted financial partner to senior leadership.</p><strong>About the Role</strong><p>The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing full-cycle accounting operations and serving as the primary internal financial resource. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role requires a hands-on, self-directed professional who is comfortable working independently, producing accurate financial reporting, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.</p><p>This is a comprehensive role suited to someone who values autonomy, accountability, and being the central point of expertise within a lean organization.</p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><ul><li><p>Manage full-cycle accounting; Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close</p></li><li><p>Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, bank accounts, and balance sheet accounts</p></li><li><p>Prepare monthly financial statements, internal management reports, and variance analysis</p></li><li><p>Monitor and manage cash flow and banking activity, including multi-currency considerations</p></li><li><p>Administer payroll for employees and independent contractors, including commission calculations</p></li><li><p>Manage group benefits, retirement programs, onboarding, and terminations</p></li><li><p>Prepare and file all required government remittances and statutory filings (HST/GST, EHT, WSIB, payroll withholdings, T4s, etc.)</p></li><li><p>Support job costing, work-in-progress tracking, and project margin analysis</p></li><li><p>Review and support sales costing and pricing models, partnering with leadership on margin analysis</p></li><li><p>Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and year-end audit preparation</p></li><li><p>Liaise with external accounting and tax advisors on compliance and planning</p></li><li><p>Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, and internal controls</p></li><li><p>Act as a stand-alone accounting resource supporting finance, operations, and basic HR administration</p></li></ul><strong>What Our Client Is Looking For</strong><ul><li><p>Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior or full-cycle accounting role</p></li><li><p>CPA designation strongly preferred</p></li><li><p>Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance</p></li><li><p>Strong working knowledge of Canadian GAAP and Canadian tax compliance</p></li><li><p>Advanced experience with QuickBooks Desktop Premier</p></li><li><p>Experience with job costing, WIP, progress billing, and detailed financial reporting</p></li><li><p>High proficiency in Excel (analysis, reporting, and financial models)</p></li><li><p>Comfortable working with multiple systems; ERP or CRM exposure is an asset</p></li><li><p>Experience supporting Canadian and U.S. business activities is preferred</p></li><li><p>Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve issues</p></li><li><p>Clear communicator able to work directly with leadership and external advisors</p></li><li><p>Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating independently</p></li></ul><strong>Work Environment & Expectations</strong><ul><li><p>Hybrid Position can be negotiated; preference for 5 days in office with ability to add 2 work from home days once trained. </p></li><li><p>Preference for candidates residing within a reasonable commuting distance to Burlington ON</p></li><li><p>Laptop provided with secure remote access as required</p></li><li><p>Standard business hours: Monday to Friday, no weekends</p></li></ul><strong>Compensation & Benefits</strong><ul><li><p>Competitive salary: CA$75,000 - CA$90,000 per year</p></li><li><p>Comprehensive benefits package including:</p><ul><li><p>Extended health and dental coverage</p></li><li><p>Vision care</p></li><li><p>Life and disability insurance</p></li><li><p>Employee assistance program</p></li><li><p>Paid time off</p></li><li><p>Employer RRSP matching</p></li><li><p>Flexible scheduling where appropriate</p></li></ul></li></ul><strong>Why Consider This Opportunity</strong><p>This role offers an experienced accounting professional the opportunity to own the full accounting function, work directly with senior decision-makers, and play a meaningful role in business operations - without the structure or bureaucracy of a large corporate environment.</p><p>If you are a CPA-calibre accountant seeking stability, autonomy, and long-term career value in a confidential and well-managed organization, this opportunity warrants a closer look.</p></p></p>Create Your Resume First
