Senior Accountant

Job Description

<p>We are hiring a Senior Accountant (not a bookkeeper) to fully own the month-end close for multiple US-based venture capital–backed startups. This role requires hands-on, verifiable VC industry experience and a deep understanding of accrual-basis accounting in fast-paced startup environments.</p><p>You will work independently, manage complex accounting scenarios, and support investor-ready financial reporting across a growing portfolio of VC-backed companies.</p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Own and manage the end-to-end month-end close process for multiple VC-backed startup clients</li><li>Prepare and review accrual-basis accounting entries, including:</li></ul><p>-Deferred revenue</p><p>-Deferred commissions</p><p>-Accrued expenses</p><p>-Prepaid expenses</p><p>-Fixed assets and depreciation</p><ul><li>Maintain accurate financial records using Online QuickBooks</li><li>Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances</li><li>Ensure financials are investor-ready and aligned with VC reporting timelines</li><li>Support financial reporting required by founders, investors, and boards</li><li>Identify accounting issues proactively and resolve them with minimal supervision</li><li>Collaborate with internal teams while operating independently</li></ul><p>Required Qualifications </p><ul><li>Proven, verifiable experience working with VC-backed startups</li></ul><p>*This is the primary qualification and will be strictly screened</p><ul><li>Strong understanding of startup finance and investor reporting cycles</li><li>Extensive experience with accrual accounting</li><li>Hands-on experience owning full month-end close</li><li>Proficiency with QuickBooks Online</li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal oversight</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills</li><li>Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)</li></ul><p>Nice to Have</p><ul><li>Experience handling multiple startup clients simultaneously</li><li>Familiarity with US GAAP in startup environments</li><li>Prior experience supporting rapid-growth companies</li></ul>
